Hollywood is Hell, So is Ellen Barkin, But Do You Have to Burn Down the Whole Dang City!!!

January 2nd, 2012 No comments

“I hate America,” says the arsonist who got arrested this morning for starting something like 50 fires over the last week in Hollywood.

Good on two counts.  First it’s nothing personal.  Yeah we all thought this guy was starting fires because he watched an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and got upset with the content.  Or was he upset at the winner of the first round of the X Factor on FOX and was showing his support for one of the losing contestants.  Or was he ticked at KTLA’s Henry DiCarlo after his meltdown last week or had any issues just in general with NBC4 here in Los Angeles.  Hey I even have to admit that NBC4′s news content has become a lot easier to take after someone over there finally figured out that this is Los Angeles and putting more Latino faces on the air in DMA that is 60%, well Latino is probably a good idea.

But Hollywood fear not.  “I hate America,” says the perp who got busted this morning at Sunset and Fairfax sitting in a van.  Yeah right near the Rite Aid where I pick up my prescriptions.

Thank God I already have my Viagra handy.  Could have been a problem.

You know the next time a real jerk like crabby, old, has been like Ellen Barkin screws around with a NYPD cop, let’s all think of the great work the LAPD group did here in Los Angeles by working around the clock to get this arson asshole off the streets of the City of Angels.  Or the next time a local news anchor decides to no doubt blow double the legal alcohol limit in most counties if asked yet still seems to aggravate a member of the NYPD, think of the work the great cops did here in Los Angeles to get the previous “person of interest” now the person under arrest for setting 55 fires in the last ten days.

“I hate America,” he apparently says according to ABC News and starting burning up cars and carports all over Hollywood and North Hollywood in protest of his mother being deported so he decided to take it out on all of us gifting the LA popul0us with sleepless nights, not knowing whether we’d be driving to work in the morning or taking the subway.

Yes, we do have a subway here in Los Angeles.  I’ve lived here for almost 7 years and didn’t know Los Angeles had a subway for most of that time.

So now we may be able to sleep.  We can stop blaming Kim Kardashian and family because the German national who has been playing cops versus arson fire setter is under arrest.  No more need to have Ellen Barkin harass cops anymore, anywhere.  No need for TV news anchors to get their drink on and verbally mess with good cops all over America.

You know on a personal note, I don’t like cops.  And to be more personal I know a lot of them in my hometown back in Philly.  Kathy, Charlie, the guys that used to come in my coffee shop to protect me from whom or whatever.  There was Kenny who used to take me to the bank for deposits when I would walk away with 5 figures in cash from a big night at my comedy club.  Um, well Kenny is no longer on the force.  Something about tipping of North Philly drug dealers before the busts went down is an issue on any police force.  Yeah these were my friends and I don’t like cops.  Just being a brother and except for my interaction with the names above, society gives the most uneducated, limited judgment carrying people the highest level of freedom to take the life of someone else and do it legally.  So yeah I don’t like cops.  But I don’t deal with the likes of Ellen Barkin either.  And I gotta give cops their props, after doing what they did to keep my car from going up in flames.

Who you gonna call when you need help, Ghostbusters?

At Least ‘Two’ Things Looks Good for ‘The X Factor’ Courtesy Conan O’Brien (Video)

September 22nd, 2011 No comments

So it’s no secret that The X Factor got off to a terrible start last night, a start that no one at FOX could be happy with after the massive almost quarter million dollar promotional investment in the show.  Thinking that anything that Simon Cowell touches turns to gold, well there’s no gold left up there in them there hills for The X Factor as they used to say in the old days.

Nicole Sherzinger and Conan O'Brien on 'Conan' on TBS

But at least we can have some fun with The X Factor and judge Nicole Scherzinger.  With her appearance on Conan O’Brien’s talk show on TBS, the host got lost not in Nicole’s conversation but in the positioning of her upper body.  And Conan got busted big time by Nicole and in his usual frat boy humor that got him tossed at NBC over to much less watch TBS, Conan plays it off perfectly for his audience.

Watch the video.  Enjoy.

Ouch! ‘Glee’ Opens Soft, ,’The X Factor’ Premiere Off on FOX

September 22nd, 2011 No comments

Oh my!  Last night’s premiere episode of the new FOX reality show The X Factor go rocked last night.  Simon Cowell expected this to be his new boost to glory on the television network that launched him in American Idol. But as  wrote yesterday and as I blogged then as well, it looks like Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl will be the only big winner on FOX this new TV season.

Ratings are in and although The X Factor won it’s time slot the 20,000,000 viewers Simon Cowell wanted to tune in last night only got around half that number.  But no one expected this to be the next American Idol except Simon.  Which you gotta give him credit for his brash and bold prediction.

To be honest, are viewers simply tired of the same old, ongoing relatively boring competition shows?

Yes.

Now with The X Factor premiering soft along with Glee dropping audience as well, bring on that Zooey gal in New Girl.  Freshest thing on TV, freshest thing on FOX.

Paula Abdul, L.A. Reid, Nicole Sherzinger and Simon Cowell from 'TheX Factor'

This show has gone to unbelievable lengths to bring solid support to The X Factor on FOX.  A $5 million dollar prize for the final winner when all is said and done which quite frankly is a lot more that the $1 million from American Idol.  Yes, both are on the same network but FOX was banking on The X Factor to be monstrous.

Not a lot of glee today at FOX.

FOX Banking on Zooey’s ‘New Girl’ and Simon’s ‘The X Factor’

June 2nd, 2011 No comments

OK so we’ll say it.  If it wasn’t for American Idol, FOX might be fighting a few rounds with Manny Paquiao for survival of the network fittest.  Now with about $2 billion on the line from advertising agencies promising to spend huge dollars on the network two shows are destined to re-make FOX or send it in to a tailspin that the big four networks don’t like.  Giving  back money or handing out what are called make goods if the audience doesn’t buy in to Zooey Deshcanel’s New Girl or Simon Cowell’s The X Factor.

Zooey Deschanel in FOX's 'New Girl'

FOX is expected to realize almost $2 billion from brands wanting to spend ad dollars on the network during this upcoming television season and these two shows are key in guaranteeing that they get those dollars.  We’ve talked a lot about The X Factor that is already having issues with releasing pop singer Cheryl Cole from her duties as a judge for that show.  Apparently her thick British accent was a turnoff to show producers and would lead to viewer turnout.  Plus getting along with Queen Paula Abdul was an issue for her as well and since Paula is the Queen, well bye-bye Cheryl Cole.

But advertisers are also excited about New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel.  A comedy that sees her character go through a break-up with a boyfriend and decides to move in to a new place with three male roomates, one that includes Daman Wayans.  After watching the trailer for the new series this one may have some issues that don’t have to do with thick British accents but more with the fact that it was about as engaging as, well it was not engaging at all.  So this one could be a problem for FOX as well.

In a statement from the network FOX had “significant growth in volume and pricing” during this phase of upfront which is always a good thing for any network but their take of the ad dollars is similar to what they grabbed in 2010.

Paula Abdul Joins Simon Cowell as Judge on ‘The X Factor’

May 8th, 2011 No comments

Another one of those really worst kept secrets.  Negotiations were going well, then not going well, CBS was holding Paula Abdul to her contract which gave her the opportunity to create more content for that network following the limited run of her reality show Live to Dance.  That show lived to die quickly on CBS.  But Paula probably did the right thing, turning away from that agreement to join The X Factor on FOX.Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell at the Los Angeles taping of 'The X Factor'

Production on  The X Factor started today.  And Paula Abdul was on hand to greet the contestants and make the announcement of her return to her buddy Simon Cowell along with fellow judges L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole.  On her reunion with Simon today, Paula said during today’s announcement that “I am here.  It’s awkward and wonderful at the same time” she went on to say.

Now the full judges panel is in place.  And the hosts of The X Factor were announced as well as British personality Steve Jones and former Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Sherzinger will hold down that role.

‘X Factor’s Mariah Carey and ‘America’s Got Talent’s Nick Cannon Welcome their Babies

April 30th, 2011 No comments

Well the bambinos have arrived.  Pop singer and new X Factor judge Mariah Carey and America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon are officially parents.  A little have 12 noon today the 41 year old multi-talented singer gave birth to twins, both a boy and a girl and arrived on the couples fourth anniversary.

Let’s see an anniversary gift and having two babies?  Nick’s gonna have a very expensive day at the jewelry story.

The girl popped in at 5 pounds 3 ounces and 18 inches long.  The boy came up at 5 pounds and 6 inches and at 19 inches.

So no false alarm this time.  Mariah admitted herself to a hospital in end of March with early contraction but not action then.  This time Nick apparently was so nervous that on his arrival to the hospital he went to the wrong area of the facility and had to be taken to the maternity ward to be with Mariah.

The couple have not come up with names for their two new family additions.

Mariah Carey Joins the ‘X Factor’

April 18th, 2011 No comments

Will she be a judge?  Apparently not.  What role will she have on the show has yet to be determined by the big boss, Simon Cowell who will present X Factor on FOX this fall.  So far the only confirmed judge is music mogul L.A. Reid who we wrote about joining over a month ago.  But all has been quiet from Simon since.

Now the Mariah thing and this is big.

Still walking around (or more like sitting around) waiting to drop Nick Cannon’s twins after currently being 8 months pregnant, Mariah has been posing nude for some magazines that think that’s attractive, but her plans after giving birth are unconfirmed.

Time to head to nanny.com because Mariah will either be the judge of all of the judges “She’ll be involved in some form.  I think she will have a role in the TV live shows,” said Simon Cowell during a radio interview with Jackie Brown.

How does he feel personally about Mariah?  “I literally adore her…I love her to bits,” said Simon. Read more on this story from the Huffington Post.
