Denis Leary Hearing ‘Sirens’ From Next Project on USA Network

July 3rd, 2011 No comments

USA Network is at it again.  Great scripted dramas seem to find a way to the network and now former Rescue Me guy Denis Leary is putting together his next project.  Sirens is a British born half hour comedy focused on the daily work of a group of paramedics.

With Rescue Me headed to its final season beginning July 13th on FX, Leary is wasting no time getting right back to work with this new series.  According to Deadline.com, Leary will be spend half of his time writing the new series and be a co-producer of Sirens just as he did with Rescue Me.

At this point there are no plans for Leary to have an acting role in the project but you can bet USA Network will demand his presence to guarantee success of the show.

Sexy Secret Agent ‘Annie Walker’ Via Piper Perabo Back in ‘Covert Affairs’ (Videos)

June 7th, 2011 No comments

So thank you, USA Network web-site officially USANetwork.com, for the reminder that it’s an all day marathon going on today up until the second season start of Covert Affairs.  TV’s sexiest secret agent who doesn’t carry a gun is back on USA Network and I think her hair is longer.  Um, I mean I think she’s ready for the next summer go round of slapping, kicking, pushing and throwing around bad guys at 10PM.

One of USA Network’s best shows with Piper Perabo, the hot new face on television as newbie agent Annie Walker.  And don’t say “Annie get your gun” because in great fashion this show is truly one of television’s most active shows with a lot of great stunt work but the lead character rarely, almost never shoots a gun.

How cool, especially with director Doug Liman who worked on the Bourne action movie series that included a lot of guns used and carried by Jason Bourne. Don’t totally think there’s not a lot of shots going around, just not from Piper Perabo’s Annie Walker.

Don’t let her good looks fool you.  She still wants to get involved in the action but the crew won’t let her.  In an interview with USA Today Piper Perabo says “I’m willing to suffer the bumps and bruises to make the show great.”

And her hair is longer.

Anyway read more from USA Today on Covert Affairs.  By the way this is a really good show.  Great cast with Christopher Gorman and Kari Matchett but you’re watching, and I have to say it, it’s Piper Perabo throughout.

This is a guy’s show, no doubt because of Piper and the action.  Women, oh they will be all over her gear because she’s pretty slick and clean in her wardrobe.

One of USA Network’s best shows back tonight at 10PM.

Callie Thorne Gets Lead in USA’s ‘Necessary Roughness’ (Video)

April 25th, 2011 No comments

Callie Thorne did 81 episodes of the FX series Rescue Me but was a bit player in her role as the whacked out Sheila Keefe.  12 episodes on HBO’s The Wire, 8 on FOX’s Prison Break but never a breakout opportunity until now.

USA Network is the top cable network for solid summer

programming and their new series Necessary Roughness launches on June 29th at 10PM with a 90 minute premiere.  Callie Thorne is Dr. Danielle (Dani) Santino, a therapist who is hired by a professional football team to work with a wide receiver who can’t catch the football.  He’s a big time party guy and she works in an aggressive way to turn around his misfortunes.

At least that’s in the first episode.  The series is based on a real therapist who did the same thing with the NFL’s New York Jets.  And if you know the New York Jets, well they’re a very good football team but starting with the head coach, his wife and the players on down they need a few more therapists on call.

Check out the promo that’s airing now on the network.  This one will surely be fun.
