Oh my!  Last night’s premiere episode of the new FOX reality show The X Factor go rocked last night.  Simon Cowell expected this to be his new boost to glory on the television network that launched him in American Idol. But as  wrote yesterday and as I blogged then as well, it looks like Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl will be the only big winner on FOX this new TV season.

Ratings are in and although The X Factor won it’s time slot the 20,000,000 viewers Simon Cowell wanted to tune in last night only got around half that number.  But no one expected this to be the next American Idol except Simon.  Which you gotta give him credit for his brash and bold prediction.

To be honest, are viewers simply tired of the same old, ongoing relatively boring competition shows?

Yes.

Now with The X Factor premiering soft along with Glee dropping audience as well, bring on that Zooey gal in New Girl.  Freshest thing on TV, freshest thing on FOX.

This show has gone to unbelievable lengths to bring solid support to The X Factor on FOX.  A $5 million dollar prize for the final winner when all is said and done which quite frankly is a lot more that the $1 million from American Idol.  Yes, both are on the same network but FOX was banking on The X Factor to be monstrous.

Not a lot of glee today at FOX.

It’s probably television’s most anticipated project.  And in just a few weeks we’ll all know if the hype and the cost to put together the new FOX series Terra Nova is worth its pre-promotion.

Terra Nova premieres on FOX on September 26th and the network has released several new videos to help promote the heck out of this new show.  Stephen Lang, the bad boy from the movie Avatar and Jason O’Mara who played in the ABC show Life on Mars lead a cast of pretty much unknowns on an adventure back in time to save what’s left of the human race.  Of course they meet a plethora of resistance from all angles during their journey.

There seems to be no end to the hacking scandal that’s about to destroy more careers throughout the Rupert Murdoch empire.  It has just become  simply never-ending as everyday the story just keeps getting bigger and continues to put the future of the company on life support.

Speaking with employees of FOX in many levels across the country, the hacking scandal has become such a thorn in the butts of employees of FOX that some of them are coming to work in New York pretty much in drag.  Most of them are totally embarrassed about the conservative cable network FOX News Channel and their ignorance of the scandal.  In other words how can they push this story to the side as if nothing happened.

Today the story gets even worse.  Scotland Yard now says a second murdered girl’s parents were given a phone that was hacked by an expert in the procedure.  Rebekah Brooks, the scumbag editor of the now defunct News of the World, gave the hacker a phone to give to the family and now that phone was hacked in to illegally.

I gotta tell you.  That woman Brooks is going to find herself in prison over this mess.  But wait there’s definitely more.

Now the Justice Department in the United States is speaking with 9/11 family members who had relatives perish in the disaster.  Speaking to them about the investigation that will be taking place to determine if rights were violated here in the U.S. by foreign reporters who have been accused of hacking in to their phones.

This is going to upset a lot of people in America.

And this would mean the complete and total end to News Corp. as the Justice Department, under the guise of the current Democratic administration, would use any means necessary to rip apart Rupert Murdoch’s empire.  Like a fat kid sitting in front of a chocolate cake, the Justice Department is ready to devour anything related to FOX News.

They will tear a new you know what in to that company and enjoy putting them out of business.  If you owned a brand that advertises on FOX News or any News Corp. owned property, would you continue to spend money on a network that abused the families of probably the biggest domestic disaster in the country’s history?

Then there’s one of television’s most well known names that’s about to be buried under this scandal.  That’s CNN and NBC’s Piers Morgan, who is just about headed to hell over this story.  First mistake was going on CNN and debating a member of Parliament who pretty much said she would leave the rest up to the media here in America.  That began a frenzy of media inquiries in to Piers Morgan on what he did or did not know about the hacking practice.  No matter what the outcome, even if he is proven to be completely unaware of the practice, his rule over another newspaper owned by Murdoch is to close of a connection to save his career here in the United States.

In other words, Piers Morgan may be finished as a television personality if there’s any link between him and hacking.  This is what we call a career-ender.

This whole story stinks to no end.  Really stinks.  But it is just beginning.  Like sharks smelling blood, the politicians in the country will look to destroy Rupert Murdoch.  Even Republicans won’t hide behind FOX News if there’s a connection to their parent company because this investigation will go right to their offices as well.

Just how deep is this scandal?

That’s a lot of Gaga going on which will no doubt lead FOX to an easy audience win tonight because there’s pretty much junk on if you tune in any other network.  No show has Lady Gaga except FOX and it’s all about her on two!

We talked about Kiefer Sutherland’s return to FOX in the pilot Touch but with the addition of Danny Glover as a regular cast member definitely brings some serious props to this new series.  He doesn’t do a lot of television so this is a huge acquisition of talent for the new series.

TVLine is reporting that Danny Glover will play Professor Arthur DeWitt, a brainiac that works with gifted children in the series that focuses on Sutherland’s character’s son who is mute and autistic but can predict events before the happen.

Danny Glover’s recent television critics include six episodes on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, an episode each on Psych, Human Target and My Name Is Earl but that’s about it since a four episode run on E.R.

Another one of those really worst kept secrets.  Negotiations were going well, then not going well, CBS was holding Paula Abdul to her contract which gave her the opportunity to create more content for that network following the limited run of her reality show Live to Dance.  That show lived to die quickly on CBS.  But Paula probably did the right thing, turning away from that agreement to join The X Factor on FOX.

Production on  The X Factor started today.  And Paula Abdul was on hand to greet the contestants and make the announcement of her return to her buddy Simon Cowell along with fellow judges L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole.  On her reunion with Simon today, Paula said during today’s announcement that “I am here.  It’s awkward and wonderful at the same time” she went on to say.

Now the full judges panel is in place.  And the hosts of The X Factor were announced as well as British personality Steve Jones and former Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Sherzinger will hold down that role.

This is what happens when mergers between big corporations take place.  With NBC is virtual freeze frame because of the new combo  with Comcast, ABC’s Good Morning America keeps growing surely but strongly giving the ‘Today Show’ something to really make them shiver.

According to TVByThe Numbers.com, GMA is closing the viewer difference with its main competitor over at NBC.  You can get some straight up numbers by going to the link below but GMA is the only show to realize any audience growth compared to last year during the same week of ratings review.

In total raw numbers the ABC morning show is bringing in 4,730,000 viewers every day while the perennial leader in Today over at NBC still leads the pack at 5,450,000 viewers every day.  And you can about forget the CBS Early Show as they follow reruns of anything airing on local cable access.

NBC is at risk for all of their programming as no money is being spent on either marketing current programming nor are contracts for talent for anyone but the majors being re-upped by management until the shake-up in the merger with Comcast settles down.  Which makes this a good time for ABC to re-energize their morning show.

Looks like FOX likes having Keifer Sutherland around.  The network is now waiting on word of his involvement in a new project from ‘Heroes’ creator Tim Kring according to the Hollywood Reporter.  ‘Touch’ is a drama in which Kiefer Sutherland would play the father of a boy who is mute and autistic but can predict things going on around him prior to them actually taking place.

Sutherland is still in the negotiation phase of his involvement in ‘Touch’ and their could be a conflict from a timing perspective because he is currently appearing in the Broadway version of ‘That Championship Season’ which he just began performing in last week.

Yes Jack Bauer returns for those that loved ’24′ but this will be, let’s say, a more passionate, sensitive Kiefer Sutherland if he chooses to take this role.

So we’ve written a few stories about ‘Bones’ on this blog but we thought we’d do something a bit different and show you some really cool ‘behind the scenes’ photos of the production of the FOX prime time show filmed in Los Angeles.  ‘Bones’ stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz as an anthropologist and an FBI agent solving crimes with ‘Dr. Temperance Brennan’ able to read clues from the bones of victims of crimes.
