The demise of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation continues. First the big name of William Petersen in his role as Gil Grissom departs. He’s replaced by Laurence Fishburne who left this past season. Now a huge cast change once again as Marg Helgenberger is hitting the road as well announcing that this season will be her last on the CBS show.

With ratings in constant decline, the show has lost its sizzle and no one wants to be on a sinking ship which seems to be the case for CSI. Still holding the top spot as the world’s most watched program, the departure of Petersen has sent the show spiraling downward over the last several years bringing in some of the lowest viewer numbers ever in the history of CSI.
“I’ve been itching to get back on stage,” said Helgenberger told EOnline. But “they’ve left the door open for me” should she want to return to the series.
Ted Danson will join the CSI team this fall replacing Laurence Fishburne.

Maybe Gary Dourdan, the guy who played the smooth, cool, good-looking Warwick Brown on the Thursday night series CSI, should stick to riding his motorcycle around the streets of Los Angeles rather than moving around town in his car. He seemingly gets in less trouble on a two-wheeler rather than four.
And he’s not so smooth, cool and good-looking any more after this incident. But he still has a hot girlfriend as you can see from the picture. Must be nice!
He’s in trouble with local sheriff again. This time he was busted for driving in to several parked cars early this morning and he was also booked for possession of a controlled substance as well. Cops arrived at an undisclosed location where the bumper car incident occurred only to have to track down Dourdan as he was attempting to leave the scene of the accident he caused.

E! News says that Dourdan was booked for both charges and released on $10,000 bail. This isn’t Gary Dourdan’s first run in with the law as he arrested for possession of heroin, ecstasy and cocaine back in 2008 which helped lead to his character being killed off during that CSI run of episodes. His contract negotiations fell apart but producers of the show apparently knew of his issue and wanted him off the show.

It’s hard to replace a legendary television personality that William Petersen created during his time on the original CSI. Laurence Fishburne was chosen over two years ago to fill some big shoes on CSI but there is only one Gil Grissom. And with the ratings decline over the past several years, this anchor of the CSI trilogy is in critical condition and may be headed to the morgue.
Or at least to Wednesday nights on CBS.
Now comes word from the Hollywood Reporter that Laurence Fishburne’s days at the lead on the series is coming to an end. The Emmy winning actor has decided not to renew his contract with CSI for another season and leave the drama which he began as Dr. Ray Langston in 2008.

Will William Petersen return from exile, or should we say from behind the scenes, and reprise his role as Dr. Gil Grissom? No word on whether CSI producers have those plans but that may be a way to save what’s left of the show. It still has great foundation but now in double digits in years airing on CBS it may be just life in the real world of television and time for a decline in viewers. William Petersen, Laurence Fishburne or anyone may never be able to bring this show back to its glory.
Still it’s a solid series from writing and production.

First the eggs thrown on stage at Justin Bieber’s concert in Sydney, Australia and now this. You read our story about Justin getting egged last week while performing but now is the real Justin coming out?
Marg Helgenberger, the long standing Katherine Willows on the CBS television show CSI was interviewed by a French radio station and is quoted as saying Justin was “kind of a brat” during the taping of his segments on that show. “I only had one scene with him but he locked one of the producers in the closet and he put his fist through a cake that was on the cafeteria table” she went on to say.
Yeah that’s pretty bratty. But isn’t he 14? And isn’t he rich? And isn’t he the hottest name in the entertainment business today?
Yeah.
And this is kind of Justin’s style as they say meaning he’s kind of a practical joker but Marg really didn’t find his antics charming. I guess after having to create serious content on a show that’s been on the air for 10 years to have a little pop singer come in and mess up your chi was not what the crew wanted from Bieber.
Bieber played a troubled teen during both his appearances on CSI. No worries for Marg. His character got shot during his second appearance on the show.

There were a few really good story lines on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation on CBS. The Miniature Killer was awesome television on the show while under the leadership of Gil Grissom. A serial killer plot here and there that grew throughout the series always held your interest but nothing like the episodes featuring Melinda Clarke as Lady Heather.
Oh yeah, Lady Heather is a professional dominatrix. If there is a thing called a professional dominatrix.

She’s coming back to CSI Thursday night. And if you watched any of the six episodes where Melinda played Lady Heather doing what the kids call “turning out” Gil Grissom, then you will really want to see what she does with the new crew at the Vegas version of CSI.
Oh by the way, we’re not putting this all on Lady Heather. No way. William Peterson’s Gil Grissom seems to be a little on the strange side as well during his interaction with Lady Heather. But you really need to watch the shows featuring her online. It’s really interesting and a challenge to figure out the two and their strange, intimate relationship.
But of course, Sara Sidle comes along to straighten out Gil.
This could be an interesting return for Lady Heather.
