“I hate ‘Glee,’” Says New ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judge Howard Stern

June 3rd, 2012 No comments

Oh Howard  Stern, oh Howard Stern, what are you doing?  All of West Hollywood is in anger mode and will be even more on the prowl after tomorrow night’s episode of America’s Got Talent where the new judge made the comment “I hate Glee,” after the performance of a group of contestants during Monday’s airing.

Not good Howard, not good.

A lot of people like Glee.

AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - Howard Stern

Seems Howard Stern has done it again.  He’s used his shock jock radio persona and taken a shot at one of television’s most unique shows in this TV era of crappy reality shows offered by most networks.  But Howard Stern does well what Howard Stern does well and that’s pissing off a lot of people.

America’s Got Talent‘s Monday episode is from Tampa, Florida where Howard Stern made that comment about Glee after the performance of a local group called Inspire the Fire.  They certainly inspired the fire of Howard Stern to make that comment about Glee.   Inspire the Fire is a singing and dancing group so of course the outrageous Howard Stern compared them to the popular FOX  series Glee.

“I hate Glee but I love you,” said Howard Stern after Inspire the Fire performed.  Good thing is that the love for Inspire the Fire got them past Howard Stern and the other judges pushing them on to the next round on America’s Got Talent.

You should and expect that Howard Stern will get more and more vocal as he continues his first year on America’s Got Talent.  And he certainly should not expect to get a guest shot on Glee.

No “Baba Booey” as Shock Jock Howard Stern, New Judge on NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent’

December 15th, 2011 No comments

Now we’re talking about smart move by a network.  And this one happens to be NBC which after the Jay Leno debacle might have thought to be conservative in the talent additions to a show like America’s Got Talent.

Now to be honest I’ve only watched this show maybe 6 or 7 times since it’s been on television.  Not a real big fan of shows that are reality based singing and dancing type of TV content.  Bores me to no end but to be honest I prefer watching the comments of those who judge such shows.  Like when Simon Cowell dogs some contestant who really can sing but thinks that they actually can…you know most of them on American Idol or The X Factor.

I call it Hollywood bullshit.  It’s when talent that has no talent thinks that they have talent because their parents told them the have talent and they really suck.  Yeah, like most of Hollywood.

But now NBC has made a huge move.  As much as people dog Howard Stern’s radio show as too harsh and vile, he’s the best choice for joining America’s Got Talent as the new judge replacing Piers Morgan.  The latter decided to take his full concentration from AGT and go full time with CNN which could be a fatal career mistake. But that’s Piers.

The radio guy who we all like to hate is coming to NBC in full force.  Howard Stern is not only the new judge on America’s Got Talent but the show will move production to New York city where Howard Stern resides and does his radio show on Sirius/XM Radio.

Now that’s power!

“Feelings are going to be hurt,” said Howard Stern in an interview of his integration in America’s Got Talent.  Good.  That’s why Stern is a perfect choice for judging this or any show.  He will be totally real and not hold back his feelings which is what this show needs.  Yeah this show needs a jolt because it’s gotten pretty stale and Howard Stern will bring an interesting mix to America’s Got Talent.

Piers Morgan (right) and 'America's Got Talent' winner Kevin Skinner

Of course the Parents Television Council dogged the move.  Tim Winter, President of the PTC called Stern a “performer who is synonymous with shock, profanity and obscenity” and called the move to hire Howard Stern “an act of desperation for a flailing network.”

Hmmm OK!  So it is an act of desperation but it’s a good act, ya think?

And you gotta love this line from Howard Stern to the mothers and fathers of the children who will perform on America’s Got Talent.  “I’m going to tell your kiddie he has no talent,” Stern said on his radio show.

Oh, I just might have to start watching America’s Got Talent.

Adding Howard Stern to America’s Got Talent…Great Move

November 13th, 2011 No comments

With Piers Morgan leaving the NBC show America’s Got Talent to focus on his fledgling CNN talk show there of course is an opening in the judge’s table and word has it that shock jock Howard Stern is chatting with producers to join the program.

Good move.  Especially for Howard and his radio show on Sirius/XM Radio.

Stern has pretty much been a blip on the radar screen since joining the satellite service several years ago but this would make him a household name again should this agreement between him and the show actually happen.  And with Stern joining Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne on America’s Got Talent, he would be the biggest name at the judge’s table because the production would move from the west coast to New York.

Stern would be the highest paid on the show as well.  He’s looking for a payday that would generate upwards of $15 million per year from America’s Got Talent and would keep his job doing the radio show on Sirius/XM Radio.  Which the latter could benefit greatly from any type of exposure for the satellite brand which pretty much needs a boost.

And Howard Stern becoming part of a network show gives him that national exposure he needs to garner again since leaving free radio.  Except for getting former Academy Awards producer Brett Ratner fired for chatting with him about his sex life on Stern’s radio show you don’t hear a lot about Howard Stern.

‘X Factor’s Mariah Carey and ‘America’s Got Talent’s Nick Cannon Welcome their Babies

April 30th, 2011 No comments

Well the bambinos have arrived.  Pop singer and new X Factor judge Mariah Carey and America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon are officially parents.  A little have 12 noon today the 41 year old multi-talented singer gave birth to twins, both a boy and a girl and arrived on the couples fourth anniversary.

Let’s see an anniversary gift and having two babies?  Nick’s gonna have a very expensive day at the jewelry story.

The girl popped in at 5 pounds 3 ounces and 18 inches long.  The boy came up at 5 pounds and 6 inches and at 19 inches.

So no false alarm this time.  Mariah admitted herself to a hospital in end of March with early contraction but not action then.  This time Nick apparently was so nervous that on his arrival to the hospital he went to the wrong area of the facility and had to be taken to the maternity ward to be with Mariah.

The couple have not come up with names for their two new family additions.

‘America’s Got Talent’ Host Nick Cannon Gets Syndicated Radio Show

April 6th, 2011 No comments

It’s about time, because America’s Got Talent‘s Nick Cannon is blowing up like Mariah with twins.  Oh that was cold, really cold.  But really Nick Cannon, who already hosts a radio morning show at New York’s 92.3 NOW, is expanding his “empire” in the words of Fred G. Sanford (Google him) as he’s about to become the new Ryan Seacrest, Casey Kasem and Rick Dees.

Nick will be hosting Cannon’s Countdown, a weekend music countdown shows that is already cleared in over 20 cities outside of his home town flagship radio station.

And guess what?

This is a good move for radio.  Nick Cannon is slowly but surely becoming a superstar talent, not yet in Ryan’s level but he’s got the opportunity to become what in radio is a crossover radio personality.

What does that mean?

Let’s be direct.  White people like Nick Cannon.  Black people like Nick Cannon.  And his wife Mariah Carey is definitely a crossover act so like America is becoming, a true melting pot, Nick’s show could be awesome.

The new show launches Saturday April 23rd.
