Ouch!!! Why You Never Stand on the Sideline of a Football Game, Reporter Whacked

Many years ago I got field passes to stand on the sidelines during a college football game.  It was at the old Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia and I don’t even remember who was playing that Saturday afternoon.  On one play this defensive lineman, you know those guys about as big as a small office building, well this one building came chasing this little running back with the building headed directly at me.

I don’t know if you ever had your life flash before you but mine did.  I read my own last rights, then proceeded to take my butt and run like hell.

I won.

Don Shane, Sports Director at at WXYZ TV in Detroit did not run.  And did not win.  But what a pro.  He got absolutely whacked by this kid Tate Forcier during the Michigan-Illinois football game Saturday and ended up interviewing the kid at the end of the game.

Shane is OK.  No doubt taking the day off from work.  His co-workers say he’s sore.  Which it totally understandable.  But that’s why you never take your eye off the play during a football game at any level.

Here’s how the post game interview went between the two that met unexpectedly on Saturday.
