Whitney Houston Versus Michael Jackson…Whitney Houston’s Passing Blows Away ‘The King of Pop’

Hard to explain?  Maybe not.  What is happening in the media world and with the regular folk out in the real world seems to be a bit confusing.  Really it is.

Michael Jackson is and will always be The King of Pop.  Take out the fact that he was killed by Dr. Conrad Murray and compare the amount of chatter taking place all over the world right now about Whitney Houston and the loss of Miss Houston seems to have taken fans way beyond the death of Michael Jackson.

Why?

Well why not.  Let’s compare.  Michael Jackson, as we used to say in high school, was extremely weird.  Not taking anything  away from him being probably the most talented performer in the history of music.  But dude was weird.  No doubt.  You certainly don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

Who in the world could connect themselves to Michael Jackson?  Who would be so strange that putting their person brand next to a weirdo is the right thing to do?  Let’s be real, we all love Michael Jackson.  We really do.  But except for the real freaky deaks out there no real normal person would want to say Michael Jackson is a role model.

No flipping way.

But Whitney Houston?  Well as much as Whitney Houston was an addicted, crack smoking, cocaine snorting, liquor drinking, pill popping blast from the past, as in has been, we all could sympathize with this performer.

She was just like a lot of us.  Maybe not all at once.  But Whitney Houston was normal.  Regular folk.  “Lost and turned out” as The Whispers would say on one of their albums back in the day and what ever happened to The Whispers?

Whitney Houston’s problems were everyday problems a lot of people face.  Drugs, alcoholism, addiction to pills, loss of celebrity, trying to work your way back to the top.  That’s like everyone’s life these days.

Not anywhere near the freak of all freaks Michael Jackson.

Don’t know what it’s like in many cities but watching the local news here in Los Angeles it’s all Whitney all the time.  Even Brian Williams on NBC’s Nightly News is leading with the Whitney Houston story.

She was “the first black chick little girls could idolize” said one African American woman when chatting about Whitney Houston.  “This shit is not surprising but devastating all the same.”

When Whitney was at her best there was no better voice.  When she was at her worst, she was awful.  But where America is today on Whitney Houston, she clearly surpasses the loss of Michael Jackson.  Just shows her fans “will always love you” Whitney Houston.
