“We are LA” NBC4 Los Angeles Campaign, Can This Get Any Worse?
Can somebody tell me just what the hell is going on at NBC 4 in Los Angeles? I always say we don’t do a lot of stories on local TV stuff but just watching the deterioration of this station’s news product in the morning is really forcing me to switch over to Kent Shocknek and Lisa Sigel over at competitive rival CBS2.
Although I do flip back to NBC4 for ‘The Today Show.’
What is the, I mean what are they…how can they, I mean I just can’t figure out how this content, which changes weekly, daily, on and on to zero foundation. If you just flip back and forth from NBC4 to CBS2 the difference in just the look and the quality of the news people is like night and day.

Eleta Loresca
Now the best thing NBC4 had in the morning just got screwed up. The most interesting part of the morning was the tech guy they have. Mekahlo Medina, the digital service anchor, was perfect doing digital and web stuff. I looked forward to his reports on that topic. It was interesting, a lot of fun, quirky, different and made all the sense in the world to have Mekahlo create this content for NBC4.
Now they have him doing reports on food trucks.
OK for the record, this has to be the dumbest move ever. The digital information was fantastic.
The station also tried bringing in new elements like an entertainment reporter whose name I can’t remember but that was so bad that Channel 4 started looking like ‘Good Day Live’ on the Fox 11 station here in LA.
And for the three female morning anchors minus a true pro in Chris Schauble the morning news has lost all journalistic foundation. I already did a story on me not being able to view the 7 day weather outlook with me watching Eleta Loresca’s blouse buttons fighting for freedom. But now the station is running these absolutely awful promos with a “we are LA” theme with the three morning anchors that remind me of a TV promotions campaign in Peoria.
It is just awful, just awful. This has got to get better. Please.
The confusion at this station is amazing for Los Angeles. Truly. Never though I would take a local TV station and rip them a new one but watching this evolution of how the Channel 4 News is being delivered to its viewers is probably the future of TV in the future. And that is a sad, sad commentary
Makes you really miss a pro in Paul Johnson.
