‘Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera Hosting ‘Independent Lens’
It’s a non acting gig but it’s a gig. Too bad as TV today needs to do what they’ve done with African America performers over the last 10 years, and what might that be pray tell?
Put more Hispanic names and faces on television.
And this lady, America Ferrera, is getting her groove back as no more ‘Ugly Betty’ on ABC so now as the host of the PBS series ‘Independent Lens.’
It’s the ninth season of the series on PBS and ‘Independent Lens’ with America will follow past presenters of the program including Susan Sarandon, Terrence Howard and Edie Falco. 27 new documentaries will begin on PBS on October 19th.
Ferrera finished up ‘Ugly Betty’ this past season on ABC TV taking home an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actor’s Guild award for her performance in that seriously solid series. But quality does not trump the number of people tuning in to the show and it was dropped by ABC.
