Two Stories, Who is OK to Advertise (Ad Age), MTV Troubled (Hollywood Reporter) Over ‘Skins’
“Point/Counterpoint.” Remember that portion of CBS TV’s ’60 Minutes’ back in the 1970′s? OK well Google it and you will know that this whole concept is what the perennial program used as a segment during the show. One opinion, then the other featuring James Kilpatrick and Shana Alexander.
So we have ‘Skins’ on MTV. Remember it’s on MTV. The network has lost a considerable amount of advertising during the show that can easily be moved elsewhere on MTV’s program schedule. But we will present two articles that really take a look inside the ramifications of the racy content during ‘Skins.’
Is it too much? I used to thing that about ‘Jersey Shore’ but is that what viewers want? Should MTV censor this content?
AdAge asks the question as to why movie studios can advertise during ‘Skins’ while brands like Subway, Schick and GM have pulled their media dollars from the show. Then The Hollywood Reporter presents an analysis on why this is not good news for MTV.
We’ve been here before. We’ll see what happens after all of the hype about the show and its advertisers.
More to come.
