‘Today Show’ Intern Inspires Tiki Barber’s Return to Football
He’s pretty much ruined his life. Both personally and professionally. He totally screwed up his marriage and is going through a difficult divorce. He deserves it. He left his wife while she was pregnant with his child and started seeing an intern that worked for the Today Show on NBC.
No sympathy there. No sympathy whatsoever. To leave your pregnant wife? For another woman. Stupid. And no class whatsoever.
On the professional stage, he retired from pro football and because of that relationship with said intern he lost his gig as a Today Show contributor and an announcer for NBC’s Sunday night coverage of the National Football League.
Yeah, he was awful on Today. Better on NBC’s Football Night in America. Not much better. But it was a good job. Working for NBC?
Stupid. Really stupid.

Tiki Barber and Traci Lynn Johnson
Now he’s a 36 year old former running back that is deep in debt and trying to make a comeback in the NFL possibly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The New York Giants own his rights but they have shown no interest in making an offer for him to return to their roster.
And he credits his 24 year old former intern with getting him back on track for that comeback. He met Traci Lynn Johnson while working for the Today Show on NBC. She help him snap out of depression because his world was falling apart. “It was a complete shock to see him basically disintegrate,” said Johnson, speaking to the New York Post.
“When we first met he was completely motivated,” she went on to say. Barber admitted to making mistakes. The big one was what led to his complete downfall.
Meeting Traci Johnson.
He lost his family and his job because of her so it probably is a good thing she was the one to pull him out. “I couldn’t motivate myself to do anything,” Barber said. And it got worse for Barber saying “I didn’t even leave my house.”
Barber is now hopefully making a comeback on both fronts. Personally and professionally. Will he ever be forgiven by anyone is still to be determined. Leaving your pregnant wife for another woman is truly stupid and poor judgment. His current girlfriend’s actions are a better example of even more poor judgment.
Seriously, what is wrong with people who can’t keep it zipped up? Ruining there lives because they can’t keep it zipped up.
Tiki Barber brought this all on himself. And his attempt to return to the NFL will be a challenge at 36 years of age. But do we wish him luck?
