‘Today’s ‘Modern Day Wedding’ Same Sex Friendly
In a move that will get Tea Party and other conservative groups of whack in a frenzy, ‘The Today Show’ has made a major adjustment coming to their very popular segment where couples compete over getting a free wedding from the show.
‘Modern Day Wedding’ will now be open to same sex couples after receiving ongoing complaints from gay activists seeking to be part of the annual event. GLAAD, the ‘Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation,’ contested NBC”s assertion that the couple must be able to legally marry in the state of New York to be part of the contest.
GLAAD asserted that since New York legally recognizes same sex marriages in other states that the show should open the contesting to every couple including same sex.
A spokesperson for GLAAD said “we encourage qualified same sex couples to submit their applications” to the show.
