The ‘Ryan Seacrest Cable Network’ Coming Soon…Well it’s all a lot of talk at this point and talk sometimes is cheap but never when Ryan Seacrest’s name is involved. Although when a talent agency starts talking about helping someone start a network, maybe a really bigger name would be more appropriate.
Not!
If Oprah can do it why not Ryan Seacrest? He’s hooking up with AEG the big concert promoter and talent agency CAA to build a new network that would highlight the entertainment venues and shows AEG runs. CAA is the agency that will be brought on to sell it to cable providers and find funding. Ryan Seacrest will be helping the network using his entertainment contacts and reality programming experience.
Now Ryan has his deals going on with E! so that could be a conflict but this could be a big problem for that network. Oprah basically told KingWorld and CBS that she was done and “see you later” when she put together OWN. Question is whether E! can survive without Ryan Seacrest and there are a bunch of TV execs putting on Pampers right about now if Ryan decides to take his show on the road to a new channel.
No timing on when the network would launch but don’t expect anything to happen for a while. A new channel would have to clear several obstacles including getting clearance on Comcast, Time Warner and satellite networks like Dish and Direct TV.
But you can’t fault Ryan Seacrest cause when you’re the man you’re the man.
