‘SVU’ Drops Jersey Digs, Moving to Manhattan
Take your state and shove it is the new phrase from television producers who used to get a tax break for filming in New Jersey. The competition for production locations is about to begin again as the ‘Garden State’ suspends a tax incentive which has been a great magnet to producers seeking to cut costs and make a profit during these tough economic times.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s new budget junk the tax advantage for movie and film productions in the state. Nearly 7,000 workers and 300 small businesses in Jersey stand to lose upwards of a billion dollars annually which will make ‘Law & Order: SVU’ and other shows produced there find new homes. ‘SVU’ is expected to take over the Chelsea Pier location of the now canceled ‘Law & Order’ which ra on NBC for 20 plus years.
