Surprise, Surprise? No Way, ‘American Idol’ Names Judges for New Season
America’s biggest kept secret is no longer a secret. ‘American Idol’ has finally made official what most of us have known for a few weeks now. Guess the paperwork just needed to be done to get Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez signed up to be seated along with Randy Jackson on this new set of shows for the program that needs a solid jolt after a serious audience decline and the removal of Ellen Degeneres and everyone else from the judge’s table.
Good riddance as this set of judges have enough music talent to outshine the three that are no longer on the show. Steven and J-Lo are absolutely solid. Whether or not they can return ‘Idol’ to the close to 30 million viewers they’ve had in the past will remain to be seen.

Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Ryan Seacrest
But their addition to the show is quite refreshing. It really is. The show got really stale and putting the new set of judges just did nothing to build up the ‘American Idol’ brand.
If they get Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez out and about to promote the new season the show will be a winner. If the think that just the new names are enough to carry the show, well they can expect the audience to continue to decline.
What NBC did with ‘The Event’ and the massive amount of advertising and promotional support would bring in solid audience numbers even if the show sucked. If FOX can manage the egos of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez to get them to go guerrilla with promotions and marketing, something great could happen.
