We don’t talk a lot about the ratings here. We leave that for the web-sites that cater to people in the media business and quite frankly they do a much better job at it than we do. But this year’s Super Bowl featuring two not so marquis teams in the National Football League hit over 106 million viewers for CBS. This figure breaks the record held by the final episode of ‘Mash’ which aired 27 years ago.
Can you imagine what could happen in future games if bigger name cities send their teams to the big game?
So was it the hope for a city that was under water after Katrina?
Did we all want the New Orleans Saints to beat the Indianapolis Colts to get their first ever Super Bowl win in franchise history?
Or was it because we’re all broke and wanted to spend a night with the family hanging at home watching another great Super Bowl performance by two really good teams?
Whatever it was the NFL, their fans and their advertisers are pretty happy with the outcome.
