Goodbye FX, hello DirecTV. First the satellite network took the chance and saved ‘Friday Night Lights’ and now DirecTV has got the rights to the highly talked about FX series ‘Damages’ for at least two seasons.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Sony Pictures, producer of the show, and DirecTV will put together 20 new episodes of the show and have acquired the rights to ’Damages’ first three seasons that ran on FX. The cable network FX and it’s owner FOX just found the production costs too high to continue to run the series and put it on the proverbial cancellation shelf while this deal was in the works to have DirecTV’s channel 101 do a deal to keep the show active.

With the purchase of all rights to ‘Damages,’ DirecTV will have the ability to reap in solid profits from syndication sales for the show. Programs usually need at least 4 solid seasons or 100 episodes to find opportunities to sell the show to other networks and to broadcast properties around the world.
The Los Angeles Times says Glenn Close nor Rose Byrne will not take pay cuts and continue in the series.

Praise Jesus!!! Since I don’t have DirecTV…and don’t plan on adding another entertainment bill to my budget…I may not see these new seasons until my one year old son goes to college, but Glenn and the amazing cast and writers of the show will surely make it worth the wait!!!
