Sarah Shahi Solid, ‘Fairly Legal’ Fair Start on USA
I like the content on USA Network. ‘Burn Notice’ is awesome. ‘Royal Pains’ excellent. Throw in ‘White Collar’ and a bunch of ‘Law & Order’ episodes and you don’t have to leave that couch.
‘Fairly Legal’ premiered on USA Network and for an hour and fourteen minutes it actually was one of the more jumbled of programs. Creating foundation for the characters is normal. But man there were a lot of characters. Hard to grab on and stay connected.
Throw in Sarah Shahi to bring it all together. Let’s hope that happens in future episodes. The writers try to do a bit too much. Except for Sarah who was just awesome on ‘Life,’ one of those shows in the canceled bin from a year ago that deserved better treatment, ‘Fairly Legal’ by leaps and bounds has a long way to go.

'FAIRLY LEGAL' Sarah Shahi as Kate Reed
Sarah Shahi is a mediator for her recently deceased father’s law firm now run by her stepmother. There you have it. She’s quirky, funny, unreal at some points that even more confusing. You don’t know how to read her character or who ‘Kate Reed’ really is by the time you get to the end of the episode.
One thing to say about two other really smart shows with solid female leads is that they are limited in characters and smart in content at the start. There’s no confusion with Piper Perabo on ‘Covert Affairs’ and certainly no way you don’t understand the brash and bossy ‘Mary Shannon’ played by Mary McCormack on ‘In Plain Sight.’
Let’s hope this one gets better. Sarah Shahi quickly became known after ‘Life’ and has earned a good shot at getting a good show. Just not sure this is the one.
