San Diego Judge Illegally Tapes Courtroom Proceedings to Pitch TV Show
This judge should be removed. Period. This story makes us wonder if a lot of the crooked judges we watch on TV drama shows are really crooked in real life. This story, well, could be the answer and this story stinks cause now this judge is in real trouble.
The first thing you learn in broadcasting is that you don’t record what anyone does or says without their permission. It’s the law. Either written or recorded permission is needed. Seems Superior Court Judge DeAnne Salcido doesn’t have a ounce of what the rules are and is in big trouble because of her ignorance.

DeAnne Salcido
She wants to do a TV court show and back in January of 2009 she asked the husband of her bailiff to secretly record the proceedings of the trial that day as an audition. An unnamed entertainment lawyer then took the tapes and showed them to TV producers.
Seems Judge Salcido never got permission from the litigants to record the trials. Then the producer asked that the judge provide a second day of proceedings on tape and she did the same thing, recording the day’s proceedings without getting sign-off from the litigants.
Not a good career move your honor.
The Commission on Judicial Performance is investigating and Judge Salcido had to testify in front of this group on her enthusiasm to get a court show. Which she just may need if she gets sanctioned for her unprofessional tactics.
People pick on lawyers but there’s nothing worse than a sleazy judge.
She should be removed. Without question. And quite frankly the last thing we need is another court show on television. Enough is enough.
