“Reset the tone” is the Plan for ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”
There’s going to be a new look to Law & Order: SVU this coming season. A lot of new faces but one is definitely coming back, that in the name of new reality show star Ice – T. Other than that, well your guess will be as good as any as the show is making a serious transition for season 13.
Ice-T has inked a deal to return to the show for the next two seasons if SVU gets another green light past this year. With all of the major cast changes coming to the show, season 14 could be in question. With Mariska Hargitay taking a lighter work load after adopting a new baby with her husband Peter Hermann and Christopher Meloni announcing that he’s leaving the show, will viewers who have already been turning away from Law & Order: SVU keep watching?
Announcing that the series will plan to “reset the tone” according to NBC Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt, you can expect to see a much different approach to refreshing SVU. With new showrunner Warren Leight taking over this season, expect to see different story-lines featuring other talent as the focus. Names have been bantered back and forth for who will replace Mariska Hargitay, but no word on who will take over for Meloni this season.
Law & Order: SVU is the only member of the franchise left on television with Criminal Intent in its last season, the original Law & Order gone and Law & Order: Los Angeles headed to the canceled bin after finishing it last episodes over the last couple of weeks.
