Record ‘No Confidence’ in TV New Says Gallup
You know we just did a story on the local NBC news station here in Los Angeles trashing their content because the really don’t deliver news. It’s news with a lot of entertainment. Interviewing the ‘Housewives’ from Bravo is not news yet they seem to really think this is what viewers wan to see at 5PM or anywhere else.
Hence, crappy number of eyeballs watching.
Now Gallup says Americans have the lowest confidence on record for TV news. Only 1 in 4 viewers express either a “great deal” or “quite a lot of confidence” in television news.
That’s a problem.
Good thing is this terrible number is holding steady as Gallup polling say a 10% drop in confidence in TV news from 2003 to 2007. And quoting Gallup, “it is clear that the media as a whole are not gaining new fans.”
Well at least TV news isn’t losing any more. That’s a good thing, right?
More from Gallup, “they struggle…with growing demand for online news, social media and mobile platforms.”
Cool! I think that means us! Search NBC 4 by the way if you want to read more about that station’s troubles in local news delivery.
