OK so it’s time to play a little chess. Gregory Itzin, who has played President Charles Logan in the Fox hit series ’24′, is returning to the show when it returns in the fall. That means he will no longer be the boss at the California Bureau of Investigation on ‘The Mentalist’, the hit show on CBS. So we have two hit shows so far, right? Now Gregory Itzin is not getting a lot of play on ‘The Mentalist’ so he’s going back to ‘24′ where he does get a lot of air time and the CBI needs a new leader.
Step in Aunjanue Ellis. She takes over and apparently will have a pretty substantial recurring role on the show. Itzin’s character Virgil Minelli resigns after the murder of three agents and Ellis’s new gig gets her the job of restoring discipline and morale to the team.
You might have remembered Ellis in ‘The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three’ with Denzel Washington. She’s also been in ’The Good Wife’ and ’True Blood’ for several episodes.
