Not So ‘Happy Days’ as Former Cast Members File Suit

This is one of those normal Hollywood stories yet as they continue to come up they still are surprising.  Ron Howard and Henry Winkler are walking away with tons of money from their days on Happy Days but the rest of the cast?

happy-daysLet them have quarters, the word from the producers of the old school ABC show.   Anson Williams, Don Most, Marion Ross, Erin Moran and the estate of Tom Bosley have filed a multi-million dollar breach of contract lawsuit against Paramount/CBS.  They say they were due royalties from merchandise sales and have received nothing from sale of t-shirts, lunch boxes, toy cars, magnets and other items based on the popular television show.

Anson Williams, who played Potsie on Happy Days, told CNN that the show now “represents the worst of America,” as corporations take advantage of performers by not giving them their due dollars from their work.

Marion Ross, who played the mom of all moms on the show, had her house go in to foreclosure because of her current financial condition.  CBS, in response to the lawsuit, told CNN in a statement that “we…have been working…for quite some time to resolve the issue.”
