News Anchor, Producer Smackdown in Newsroom in Charlotte
WCCB Television in Charlotte needs to fire everyone and start from scratch.
This local Fox affiliate in Charlotte should review resumes and check references before hiring. In December the news director was arrested for walking away from a grocery store, oh yeah, forgetting that payment is necessary prior to leaving the store with selected items. He hasn’t been seen at the station since that incident.
Now an evening news anchor and producer get in to a news room brawl prior to the 10PM FOX Charlotte local news. Brien Blakely got a serious bonk, bonk, bonk along with being tossed over a desk, cutting his nose pretty badly in that fall.
You can write any better stories than one like this.
“I was protecting the honesty and integrity of our station,” was Blakely’s response to the incident in an interview with local paper The Charlotte Observer.
Huh? Honest and integrity? In local news? And on FOX?
The producer, who might get a tryout with the Carolina Panthers for a defensive lineman position, remains unnamed at this point.
“It’s over, we’re buddies again,” Blakely told the Observer.
Oh let me be frank. This type of incident is never “over.”
