NBC LA Reporter Beat Up, Defending ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Star
It certainly wasn’t a “holly, jolly Christmas’ for NBC4 Los Angeles reporter Robert Kovacik. If you live in LA and watch ‘the news comedians from ‘Today In LA’ on that station, you’ve seen the very well respected and very good street reporter Robert Kovacik bring credibility to that morning news program that really needs it.
Robert Kovacik is way out of that morning show’s league and a true pro.
Now to the story.
Robert Kovacik is friends with Lisa Vanderpump from the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ on NBC owned cable channel Bravo and the couple was having a meal at the Polo Lounge Thursday at the Beverly Hills hotel. A drunken man began harassing Vanderpump and Kovacik stepped in to tell the man to go away.
Apparently this drunk had a few too many and decide to take a swing at Kovacik, smacking him in the mouth and sending the reporter to the hospital to receive 24 stitches from the punch. He got popped so bad that TMZ.com says Kovacik’s lip was not only busted open but the assault went to muscles in his mouth which got him an appointment at Vanderpump’s co-star Lisa Maloof’s plastic surgeon husband for additional repair.
The drunk apparently was wearing a ring that got to Kovacik’s face. The couple went to the Beverly Hills police department to file a report. Hopefully there will be an arrest and Robert Kovacik gets back to work soon because watching open mike night on NBC4 in LA during ‘Today In LA” is now more like the Thursday night comedy lineup on NBC.
