‘Mike & Molly’…Very Funny
‘Mike & Molly’…Very Funny… And smart. Comedies have a hard time these days on television. Monday nights on CBS is making it better. We already give ‘Two and a Half Men’ a ‘C’ grade since the writing over the last couple of years is a bit stale but the new entry following that hit series is ‘Mike and Molly’ which creator Chuck Lorre seems to have done it again.
It’s very funny. Lots of slick one liners, great cast that fit in every way for their character’s personalities and easy to watch as this is middle America comedy done really well.

Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell, 'Mike & Molly'
‘Mike’ is Billy Gardell, who you might remember from ‘My Name is Earl,’ and Melissa McCarthy is ‘Molly’ who both meet at an ‘Overeaters’ class and begin dating. Both are perfect in their roles as a cop and a school teacher. The one liners are superb. Swoosie Kurtz is Molly’s mom and is a hard drinking character on the show.
When Mike comes for his first date with Molly he’s wearing this lime and dark green sweater with a red shirt underneath.
“Nice sweater” she asks Mike. Was it a gift?”
“No” Mike says.
“Really” says Swoosie. You paid for that?”
Lots of similar comedic content that just makes this a safe but close to the line writing that makes you want to laugh. A lot. A lot like ‘Two and a Half Men’ did at the beginning of that series.
There’s something really down to earth about ‘Mike & Molly’ so for a season of new comedies that look relatively so-so you might want to take 30 minutes and watch this one.
