Kevin Costner, Tyler Perry Give Whitney Houston Farewell True Reality, We Have Lost a Great Talent (YouTube Videos)
An amazing day. Probably the last time we will have such a gathering of incredible talent for the late great Whitney Houston. It was a great day for a woman who many have praised while others have criticized for her lifestyle and the loss of a great career. Whitney Houston’s talent declined dramatically but some say she was on a comeback. The movie Sparkle would have been her next big project. Quite frankly her singing career was pretty much over. But she was on her way back.
Then one sad day it all ended. But today it ended as it should. When will people stop thinking about the glass half empty? When will a lot of us begin to maximize the ups and minimize the downs? When will people, like us in the media world, stop looking for the worst in humanity, seeking that ever worded “breaking news” when it comes to the life and times of not only people with celebrity status or just regular folk you see ever day at work or in our daily environment.
When will we all just decide that people have issues. We all do. The world picks on Bobby Brown, blaming her decline solely on him. It’s all about blaming Bobby. Or the doctors that gave her the medication. Same thing that got that moron Dr. Conrad Murray in trouble. Now he’s in prison. Is it all Bobby’s fault, the doctors? Of course not but we have nothing more to think about but the worst. In the words of Judge Judy “you picked him” Whitney, And Michael Jackson both made decisions that put them in their graves.
But today was a day of celebration. All over television today it was all Whitney all the time. It was a nice day to actually praise someone that was an incredible talent that lost her way down the road we all call celebrity. Most of us learned a lot about Whitney Houston today and over the past week following the news of her death. How little African American girls saw Whitney Houston as a role model. They all wanted to be like her. They all felt that closeness to her because if you think that there were others when Whitney Houston began her amazing career, well just name one.
You can’t can you?
Some say that a woman who smoked crack should not be celebrated. They can all go to hell. Two words for you. Elvis Presley. Case closed. He was a drug addict and people still idolize him. Daily.
Kevin Costner was excellent. Tyler Perry fantastic, both today at Whitney Houston’s funeral service. It was a day those of us who love music and great talent will understand the value of Whitney Houston.
Let’s think of the best of her life. Not the worst. Unfortunately there are only a few of us who can think that way but maybe we can get a few…just a couple maybe…but we will take just a few if we can get it, to try.
