‘Good Morning America’s Sam Champion Takes Leave, Father Passes Away
Sam Champion probably won’t be back on the show this week as he and the rest of his military family take time to reflect on the passing of ‘Good Morning America’ weather guy’s Dad. Lt. Col. James H. Champion passed away at 75 years of age with Sam and the rest of his family by his father’s bedside when he left them on Monday.

Sam Tweeted “Looks like I won’t be back to GMA this wk..w/family in hosp at my dad,s bedside.”
The show’s executive producer said “Sam’s tight knit military family is strong and hanging together” during this sad time.
