FX Continues Big Movie Acquisition, Picks Up Cable TV Rights to ‘Avatar’

They now have a billion dollar property along with the rights to a list of other movies that will solidly place FX in the winner circle of cable TV networks.  The movie rights to the blockbuster movie ‘Avatar’ go to FX and although the price point for those rights has not been released, the Los Angeles Times says it’s probably around $25 million.

FX has already a few solid franchises for cable TV rights. Transformers: Rise Of The Fallen; The Hangover; 2012; and the Twilight franchise are all set to be aired on the network over the next few years.  ‘Avatar’ is looking like 2012 to air and the contract exclusivity goes for a few years.
