FOX Creates Country Music Awards Show

Let’s be real.  Country music is the snap even though CD sales are down.  But television always seems to be a good place to drive in tons of viewers and FOX has decided they want piece of that audience.

Guess with ‘American Idol’  viewers leaving faster than a Larry King ex-wife, a country music show is probably a good idea.

The Hollywood Reporter says that December 6 is the night on FOX and Las Vegas is the site of the ‘American Country Awards.’  And for this event the winners will be chosen by the fans so look for the network to use its massive digital assets to get fans fully involved in the broadcast.

Awards shows are back in fashion after many years of decline.  The ‘who cares’ factor and boredom set in for many years as the Grammy Awards and other non music award programs lost massive viewers.  But now the comeback is on and FOX wants to see if they can get a piece of a new audience that spends most of its country music award time on CBS and the ‘Academy of Country Music Awards’ and ABC’s ‘Country Music Awards.’
