ESPN Sports Announcer Arrested
Here we go again. Back to Gloria Allred’s office on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles for another television person who can’t keep his hands to himself. This time we head over to “the worldwide leader in sports” known as ESPN. Jay Mariotti, a contributor to ESPN and an AOL columnists on that site’s sports side, was arrested in Los Angeles on a domestic violence beef Saturday morning.

So here’s the scoop. The 51 year old Mariotti and his girlfriend were partying at a club in Santa Monica, California Friday night when they got in to a spat when he thought she was coming on to another dude at the club.
Probably someone half his age, you know close to her age. That’s what men do in L.A. Date girls half our, uh, ruh, I mean half their age.
So the UFC battle continues when they get back to their apartment in Venice. That’s when the he pushed and shoved her, then cops were called. Upon arrival the unidentified female looked like Chris Brown ran through the neighborhood and Mariotti was taken away in cuffs.
Paisan was booked at 5:45AM Saturday and was released on $50,000 bail which means this is not one of those “I’m sorry honey, let’s have great make up sex and move on” kind of incidents. Easy to say that it was not a “dance dance, like it’s the last, last night of your life” kinda Friday night for Jay.
Yeah didn’t think I could ever fit in a line from an Usher song in this story.
This could be a career-ender as my old boss Bill Hartman said to me when I was sales manager at WBZ Radio in Boston. Sales weren’t doing very well at that time which prompted his use of that famous and final line of my radio career.

Mariotti is a panelist on the ESPN show ‘Around the Horn’ which highlights short bits of sports along with commentary from sports people like Jay.
