ESPN Doing Vince Lombardi Film, Robert DeNiro to Play the Legend
Wow. What a great casting move for a legendary NFL coach. Robert DeNiro has been tapped to play one of the sport’s most motivating and successful coaches, the great Vince Lombardi. ESPN Films has titled the project ‘Lombardi’ and the Green Bay Packers coach’s historical overview will be written by Eric Roth who put together ‘Forrest Gump’ for the big screen.
For the record Vince Lombardi built the Green Bay Packers into a championship team that won five titles between 1959 and 1967. And that rebuilding will be the focus of this new project. The film will be released in 2012 between the AFC and NFC Championships and the Super Bowl.
