Class Act Neal McDonough Keeps His Zipper Zipped for ‘Starz’

David James Elliott is doing a great job in ABC’s summer walk on ‘Scoundrels’ but was not the first talent approached to play the jailed pop of the ‘West’ family in that series.  And quite frankly, as I continue to watch ‘Scoundrels’ on my DVR, there’s something very compelling about that show.  Good cast, written well, good concept and I’d like to see more past the summer.

Neal McDonough, the solid performer in ‘Band of Brothers’ and ‘Desperate Housewives,’ was originally cast in Elliott’s role of ‘Wolf West’ and was removed from the show according to Nikke Finke because he would not do steamy, sex related scenes.

Gee someone in Hollywood with class.  And actually keeps his hands to himself and his zipper zipped!

McDonough is a hard core Catholic and had told ABC and everyone else that because of his religious beliefs he would not participate in scenes with on camera wife Virginia Madsen in ways that went against those beliefs.

Now Starz has grabbed on to McDonough and cast him in a role for a movie called ‘Vigilante Priest’ who Finke says was his idea and that Starz wants to fast track this production.

‘Vigilante Priest’ huh?

Seems a perfect role for a guy who, well doesn’t want to sell out himself like most in Hollywood.  The storyline has an ex-cop leaving the force and becoming a priest and cleaning up the streets of Los Angeles “one sinner at at time” according to Nikke’s article in Deadline Hollywood.

This could be a show that could go on forever, trying to clean up Los Angeles one sinner at a time.
