Chris Meloni Out at ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’

The SVU team is losing another member, this one full time.  After 13 seasons since Law & Order:SVU launched on NBC, Chris Meloni is leaving the series after a long contract battle.  A battle that was rumored to be a deal but with NBC slicing and dicing , everywhere this is no surprise.

So that brings the show’s two leading stars with either no role of limited roles in Law & Order: SVU as Mariska Hargitay announced recently that she is seeking to cut back on her activity in the series as well.  Both make some serious cash from SVU as both grab over $400,000 per episode which is quite frankly out of bounds for show that has seen significant ratings erosion over the past several years.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is the leading candidate to replace Hargitay in the partner chair on SVU and the search has now started for a lead to replace Chris Meloni.
