‘Charlie’s Angels’ Coming Back to ABC, ‘Fantasy Island’ Returning as Well
Two major icons of the 1970′s could be returning to network television as discussions are taking place to bring ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and ‘Fantasy Island’ back to TV. ‘Angels’ which ran on ABC from 1976 to 1981 looks pretty much like a go as Leonard Goldberg one of the original producers of the franchise is on board for the new project as well as Drew Barrymore who starred in the film version of the show.
‘Fantasy Island’ will return but this time instead of a drama there’s a bit of a twist as reality show producer Mark Burnett will helm the new show. No network has grabbed this show yet and there’s a bit of hesitation with re-makes of old shows as the challenge to build audiences remain. Think ‘Melrose Place’ and you’ll see it makes sense.
