CBS Sports, the NFLPA and Streakers…This is Pro Football (Videos)
Well remember all of that hype we made about the NFL Players Association one time ad that was supposed to air in this past weekend’s Pro Bowl game on CBS? The players union was responding to the league’s attempt to make them the bad guys in their very difficult negotiation for a new agreement between them by running a single ad in the game’s broadcast.
That ad never ran. What was running was a couple of streakers on the football field that made this game interesting. But the one time ad that beyond a single airing on CBS, it was ultimately rejected by the network late Friday according to Advertising Age Magazine.
CBS said it did not want to get in the middle of a labor squabble and the fact that this network carries NFL games sure had something to do with the rejection of the 60 second ad. And part of the reason the NFLPA is ticked off is because the union has been complaining about the close relationship between the NFL and their TV networks.
The NFLPA must be kidding if they think Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, did all he could to make sure this single advertisement did not run during the Pro Bowl.
That’s that story. Below you will the the NFLPA ad. If you remember, we told you it was awful. But how about them streakers? That video is below as well. Players on the field during last night’s game got a kick out of their performance.
It was about the only thing the players were happy about last night.
