Becki Newton Show Dumped, Casting for Another Slows Start at NBC
NBC just can’t get a break. The network went through a lot last year trying to get ‘Parenthood’ on the air after Maura Tierney left the lead in that show to deal with her breast cancer diagnosis. Lauren Graham ended up taking that role.
Now a couple of other shows slated for the fall are dealing with some changes. NBC says that ‘Love Bites’ will be put on the proverbial television shelf as lead Becki Newton, who just lost her gig with the cancellation of ‘Ugly Betty,’ got knocked up by baby daddy Chris Diamantopolous and won’t be able to start on the show. Critics say it’s a good thing as the show was getting dogged and needs a bit of re-working before it airs.

NBC’s new ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ has pushed production back 10 days because they just can’t seem to get the cast straight on that show. Skeet Ulrich is on board as one of the detectives on that show but you would think that any Dick Wolf produced show would have an easier time finding talent. Problem is the show is late in the game for casting and quite frankly anyone of value is already working.
‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ is still scheduled to air on September 22.
