Ashton Kutcher Versus the Village Voice and Not a Pretty Episode

Not sure Ashton Kutcher needs this right now.  Neither does the Village Voice from someone that just became one of the biggest actors in pay and profile on network television.  The new guy to replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men is going one on one against the New York media giant in a conversation over sex slavery.  And Ashton Kutcher is looking to blow the print off the cover of the newspaper after an article blasting him titled Real Men Get Their Facts Straight.

Sex slavery is the topic and it’s not a pretty story.  Kutcher has been on fire doing what he can from a social network standpoint and personally to fight the problem worldwide.  But once the Village Voice joked about Ashton’s effort to highlight the issue and all hell broke loose.  Kutcher when on a massive effort to target advertisers of the Village Voice Why?  Because the Village Voice runs suspect ads that could be considered sex trafficking on their online site called Backpage.com.

Seems a 15 year old boy has accused the Village Voice of running an ad selling him on an area of Backpage.com.  There’s a lawsuit pending on this accusation as well.  Kutcher then went postal on the Village Voice from a social media campaign and then did what all do when dealing with the media.  Target their advertisers.

American Airlines got the message and pulled their ads from the publication.  Kutcher tweeted to American “are you aware that you are advertising on a site that supports the Sale of Human Beings (slavery)?”

And American Airlines responded.  Pulled all advertising.

And the Village Voice jumped all over Ashton Kutcher on his relationship with “confessed pimp” Snoop Doggy Dogg.

Oh this is gonna get nasty.

But getting American Airlines to pull their advertising from the Backpage.com is huge.  Can only spread to other advertisers on the web-site.

Got one word for ya.  Craigslist.  Remember the pressure they got and continue to get over their sexual oriented content forcing them to remove one area of concern from the feds.

The Village Voice may do best to play nice, nice with Ashton Kutcher.  For some reason this guy’s got some serious power and is playing it out really well.  And no one, even in New York, likes any selling of 15 year old boys for sexual purposes so this could be a losing battle for the Village Voice.
