Anthony Weiner’s ‘Weinergate’ and a Good Day for Television News
Even the media is getting tired of the scum, the mess of politics, the lewdness that seems to be part of the process that continues to make us all believe these people we elect are bigger, better than us. It’s time to admit it and I will be the first to go on record.
We all have some internal, seriously messed up sexual deficiencies that we’d all like to keep secret. Hey I’m the first to admit that at 54 years of age I like chatting up women half my age, dating them and subsequently wading them through all of their ‘daddy’ issues.
And for the record, I will not stop.
OK so there you have it. I’m scum, no? Who among us can say that checking out a few videos on Pornhub.com is not something that most heterosexual males do on a daily or weekly basis. For the official ranking, I looked on Alexa.com, which reviews and provides detailed information on Pornhub.com and not surprisingly the global rank is at 62. Meaning of all web-sites ranked worldwide, this site is ranked 62 of all available web-sites, once again, in the world.
In the United States, the site is ranked at 46 of all sites visited domestically. Yeah 46 with an average of 6 page-views per user and over 7 minutes per visit for those users. Not many more minutes needed to do what you need to do on this site.
So we look at Congressman Anthony Weiner and get all excited, as we do in the media, about his transgressions and get lost over something that most of us do and are everyday. Measure our sexuality.
What’s wrong with that? Should we expect more from someone that we elect to run this country? Newt Gingrich, running for President has had multiple wives, John Edwards who ran for President funneled money to his baby’s mama during that failed campaign and every time a Republican screams against gay rights, well that’s the first person you look at real hard to see what same sex URL he has sitting on his computer screen at 2 in the morning.
But the frenzy seems to be ending. Watching CNN and Wolf Blitzer’s The Situation Room gave us all a real read as to the importance of this Anthony Weiner scumbag element of a story. So did Brian Williams and his open on Nightly News. Blitzer mentioned a few e-mails and Tweets that basically asked to change the topic and he did. Then Brian Williams spent a limited time at the top of his broadcast to then go to more important news. Yeah several servicemen died in Iraq today. Yes we are fighting a couple of three wars.
And there’s one person to blame. Another politician. Barack Obama. And the birther controversy that took control of the news cycle for several weeks in huge fashion until he decided to release his birth certificate. The sideshow with the carnival barker took over the weak news media and the cameras followed Donald Trump toward one more example of embarrassment for the industry. But today, instead of Chuck Todd, the political reporter for NBC having an orgasm over a press conference where the media took this President away from killing Osama Bin Laden, he was seated next to Brian Williams discussing Defense Secretary Robert Gates and his farewell to the troops in Afghanistan.
Gee which story holds more importance?
NBC, CNN and the other news services just got smarter today. A lot smarter. There are other really important “stuff” in the words of the President that we all have to do. Rather than focus on Anthony Weiner’s freaky deaky life. I have to say that today was a good day for television news.
