Well down goes Andy Samberg, another name in the many past personalities that have left the NBC weekend program known as Saturday Night Live. The comedian has confirmed what was speculated all week that he will be exiting the show after its current run to pursue more lucrative opportunities.
During an interview with the New York Times, Andy Samberg told the publication that he would not return in the fall to Saturday Night Live. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back,” he told the Times. Andy Samberg has been with Saturday Night Live since 2005. Which is a long time for talent to remain with the ongoing show that has created some great careers over its run on NBC.
“Something about it feels like it’s the moment,” Andy Samberg continued in the New York Times interview on leaving Saturday Night Live.
Kristen Wiig had her big sendoff from the show as she begins her new career on the big screen as will Andy Samberg who will join Adam Sandler in the upcoming movie That’s My Boy.
“I did so much more than I ever thought I would ever do” on Saturday Night Live said Andy Samberg.
