After Blowing Off ‘The Today Show’ Kanye West Blows Off His PR Firm

After Blowing Off ‘The Today Show’ Kanye West Blows Off His PR Firm…Well Kanye West is on a roll.  On a roll telling everyone to ‘get to steppin’ in the words of Martin Lawrence.  First he tells Matt Lauer and the crew over at ‘The Today Show’ that he will not be performing for a scheduled appearance on the top rated morning show.  But now he’s told his PR agency, yes the group who so called prepared him to go on ‘Today,’ that their services are no longer needed.

After that embarrassing interview, he probably made the right choice.

West feels he was ambushed by Matt Lauer after the mess Kanye created after calling President Bush a racist during the former leader’s slow response to Hurricane Katrina.  But if this interview was any indication of the prep work by Rubenstein Communications, his former PR agency, lots of people in the entertainment business with a few troubles here and there probably won’t be calling this public relations group for help.

On the other hand, preparing Kanye West to discuss issues of a educational nature could be a challenge.  But Kanye’s got money so if he’s paying and paying well, he needs to ask for a refund.

Kanye became upset at noise in the studio during the interview (not unusual) and when the control room ran video of his interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance at the MTV Music Awards.  That was a pretty strange move by the producers of the segment as replaying something negative that had nothing to do with the President Bush incident was kinda unprofessional.

But the PR agency should have expected that and Kanye West came away pretty embarrassed.

Now that the concert is gone no word as to whether West will be involved in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which will be hosted by Lauer and Meredith Vieira.
