‘Law & Order’ has been canceled by NBC.  Ratings, last minute negotiations that went wrong and the show’s relationship with cable network TNT all contributed to the show’s demise.  The program was on track to become the longest running series in television network history if it had been renewed.  ‘Gunsmoke’ will have to be googled by most readers but that series ran for 20 years as well on CBS.
