Well if you saw the weekend box office figures for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1′ in the U.S. and international there’s a reason why ‘ABC Family’ decided to snatch up the rights for this movie and the followup.  The states took in $125.1 million bucks over the weekend setting a domestic box office record for the opening of any ‘Potter’ movie.  And the overseas take was $205 million.

harry-potterYeah, if you’re running ‘ABC Family’ this is a pretty good move.

With these two latest acquisitions of the ‘Harry Potter’ movies, ‘ABC Family’ owns all the full series.  Tom Zappala who runs scheduling for the cable network said the movies are “enormously beloved by our audience” and both films have a Spring and Winter 2013 launch date on ‘ABC Family.’
