99 Cents to Rent TV Shows Coming to iTunes
This is a good idea. A really good idea. And so far Rupert Murdoch over at FOX sees something in developing a deal with iTunes that would sell their on air content for only 99 cents per show.
So why is this a good thing? Really simple. In this economy paying anything above 99 cents for a TV program is just too much for most people. I’d stack up on this if there was a show I wanted to watch.
And speaking of 99 cents, I bought stock in the 99 Cents Store when it was trading at $7 a share. Today, a little more over a year later, it’s selling over $17 a share. Which shows that selling anything for 99 cents is a damn good idea cause all of us, no matter how much money we have, like a good deal.
The deal from FOX says you would be able to watch your show for rent for 48 hours. Plenty of time to watch a half hour to a two hour show. Apple is in discussions with ABC, NBC and CBS to get them under agreement and Apple is planning a big launch event on September 7th in San Francisco to promote the concept.
