We knew this show wasn’t finished, for all of us who are fans of the much heralded television series Friday Night Lights. Yes they’ve talked about the film version of Entourage and the on and off again chatting on about FOX’s 24. But now there’s some serious buzz going around Hollywood about the possible coming of the big screen version of one of television’s best programs of quality, Friday Night Lights.
'Friday Night Lights' - "Don't Go" - Connie Britton as Tami Taylor, Kyle Chandler as Coach Eric Taylor
Last we left show stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton were in Philly after the East Dillon Lions were merged with a crosstown rival high school and Coach Taylor and his wife Tami relocated to the city of Brotherly Love. That being Philadelphia after she received a big time offer from a university in that city. And Coach Taylor, after much consideration, decided to tag along with Tami and make the move.
The End. At least for television and at least for now.
“We’re very serious about trying to do it,” said Peter Berg the show’s executive producer and also the director of the TV show’s 2004 film. And Friday Night Lights, the television show, has been nominated 37 times for Emmys since it first hit the air in 2006.

“It was a gesture that moved the world,” said Lee Cowan on his report during NBC Nightly News this evening. After dealing with the debt crisis as Americans, there was not one politician in Washington that we really considered a good human being. But then there was Gabby Giffords, the Congresswoman from Arizona who was shot in the head by a whack job and none of use expected to survive. Well she sure did survive. And last night she showed up to vote in the affirmative for the raising of the debt ceiling that has engrossed all of us for a few weeks, even months now.
Gabby Giffords
You know this would not have been a good time for Americans during the crap these assholes in Washington put us through and we’re pretty much royally pissed. Really pissed at these politicians. We think they are worthless, overpaid losers, yes we do. But when Gabrielle Giffords walked on to the floor of Congress last night you just had a sense of easiness and finality that the mess was over. And we all could, at least for a moment, appreciate a fighter and Gabby Giffords is a fighter.
If there’s one politician we all pulled for it was this Congresswoman. Yes we all hate politicians and I could go on forever about their limited value, yet unfortunately this is what America voted for and put in to office. But out of all of this, there was good news and that is every person on the floor of Congress came together to stand up and cheer for Gabby Giffords.

There’s a new dance show on television this summer and the woman behind some of the moves of the music industry’s biggest names is the boss in charge of BET’s Born to Dance: Laurieann Gibson which premieres on the network tonight.
Laurieann Gibson host of BET's 'Born to Dance: Laurieann Gibson'
Just some of the names Laurieann Gibson has work with will surprise most. Always the behind the scenes choreographers don’t get the juice they deserve until the get a show like BET’s Born to Dance: Laurieann Gibson.
Have you heard of Lady Gaga, Brandy, Danity Kane, Keri Hilson or JoJo? Yes Laurieanne Gibson has worked with each during her solid career and now she’s looking for a winner that will walk home with $50,000 for their dance performance.
We say it’s about time BET got in to the dance game with a reality show. C’mon let’s be real BET’s main audience is African American and where else would a dance show go over real well with viewers?
Born to Dance: Laurieann Gibson premieres tonight on BET at 10.

Well let’s see last week we had a reporter and a photographer for ABC7 in Los Angeles fired upon by two juvenile delinquents, yes remember when they called them juvenile delinquents? Today they call them misunderstood. These two morons decided shooting BB pellets at a Leanne Suter was a weekend treat for the pair.
They of course were arrested.
Fabio as Weatherman for KOIN TV
Then the story about CBS owned WBBM Television in Chicago that just pretty much did everything wrong to incur my wrath in an article I uploaded yesterday. Just read that story. It sickens me to even repeat what that television station did in a broadcast news report.
Now comes the arrest of a cameraman in Long Island for filming the aftermath of a police chase in the New York suburb. So this freelance reporter, just doing his job, starts to run tape on the police investigation and gets busted by a local cop.
In Los Angeles the cops put on make-up, fix hair and ask their partner how they look before going on camera. Not Robocop in Long Island who takes photo guy Phil Datz straight to the ground after asking several times for him to leave the screen. Watch this one.
And then the always good looking Fabio, if you consider him good looking, does the weather as he tries to regain what he lost as not being the Old Spice guy anymore. Women may think he’s good looking but…I don’t get it I really don’t. He looks kinda dorky to me but 20 years ago I could have mistaken for Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds.
No longer! OK not ever but it was good while I was writing it!

And they couldn’t have picked a better name. Connecting this fledgling network to anything is probably a good idea especially since NBC has regained the Olympics as the lead area for content at the upcoming games.
Versus has had pretty much no activity in the cable world yet now with the change of its name to NBC Sports Network the activity will be massive. And probably will afford the network a much larger enhancement of its image before and during the Olympics, a lot more than the network’s current success with the National Hockey League.
And anything connected to NBC Sports will also afford the new NBC Sports Network an opportunity to negotiate contracts with all professional and college sports programs. In other words this is a significant move for NBC in the change of name to NBC Sports Network versus Versus!
Ha!! That was funny.
“it’s a complete repositioning of the brand,” says newly name NBC Sports leader Mark Lazarus.
Versus or should we now say NBC Sports Network can be seen in 70 million homes right now and if you recall was originally OLN or Outdoor Life Network prior to 2006.

It got Anthony Weiner in hot water, so hot that he now has to spend all of his time with his pregnant wife. Ever been around a pregnant woman? Oh he right now is regretting the move he made by sending a picture of his pee pee to a female which pretty much ended his political career.
Ron Artest
But can Ron Artest, the former bad boy of the NBA, get himself out of this current mess and end up on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars? Oh I dunno.
Ron Artest is chatting around town that he is in conversation with producers of Dancing With The Stars to be part of next season’s run of the series. And he’s pretty psyched about his possible integration in the show. Now the issue.
Um, there’s always an issue with Ron Artest.
There’s a story floating around the internet, or should we say a picture, that apparently is the same type of content that ended the slimy life of Anthony Weiner. Ron Artest met a woman on Twitter (that damn Twitter!) and began a text and text back relationship with the woman. When she turned Ron Artest down for a meetup to do the wild thing, the Los Angeles Laker forward decided he would send a picture of his pee pee to the woman.
She of course sent it to Deadspin and the mess is on!
But this is Ron Artest and most of us, knowing Ron Artest, would say who cares.
But this is the ABC Television Network and Walt Disney’s people don’t play that mess. C’mon, we’re talking about Mickey Mouse here, Mickey Mouse.
And Artest is not married, yet will be marrying his ex-wife again. “A nice big wedding,” says his ex-wife, soon to be wife again Kimsha.
Ron may get a pass on this one because, well because he’s Ron Artest. But let me repeat once again, to all my male brethren, you cannot, cannot, cannot send women texts of your pee pee and not expect them to sell it. Hell we might buy it, so stop, stop please!!!

And he just may have to. Sex in The City was a monster hit for the initial movie and did not fare as well during round two of that former HBO series that is now in syndication. But can Entourage follow the same success in the first go round of a movie on the big screen?
According to Mark Wahlberg, the executive producer of the HBO series which is now in the final run of the show, says “if I had to finance it myself, I would do it,” when asked about funding the effort. People “want to go on a journey with these guys,” said Wahlberg at the Television Critics Awards Press Tour. And he’s really drinking the Kool Aid about the show saying “I certainly hope this has a chance.”
Next steps are for Walhberg and the show’s creator Doug Elin to work on a script to move toward attaining outside financing. “Hopefully we’ll come up with an idea and make it happen,” said Elin.

You may have thought these days were past us but clearly they are not. A TV news crew using racial fear mongering to enhance a story that was a complete lie. When people say that local TV news stinks this is an example.
Most times when I tell people I worked for CBS for seven years of my career, it’s a proud mention. I probably would not be where I am had it not been for my days at CBS. After reading this story, well this is one of those days where the mention of CBS and the call letters of WBBM Television in Chicago sicken me.
WBBM Television news is clearly in the toilet, sent there by whomever is running that department of that formerly fine TV station. The news director and everyone involved in this incident that you will see in the video should be removed and banned from ever managing or broadcasting news ever again.
Yeah I thought this type of human being no longer existed. Well clearly, once again, we see and example of the mediocrity of America. Using a child to harbor racial insensitivity in Chicago, where if you look at crime statistics in that city, it’s not really needed.
WBBM is CBS2 in Chicago. And recently did a news broadcast about a drive by shooting in a local neighborhood and broadcast a segment which the TV station has now apologized. First apology should be for the person who interviewed a four year old boy. What TV news stench would interview a four year old boy? Then the tragedy is not even the drive by shooting. The tragedy is how some idiot in the editing bay misconstrued the content of what this child said to the news crew. Watch the video first, and then more of my take.
And here’s the apology, courtesy of Gawker, from WBBM.
“We accept responsibility for the mistakes that were made, both in the reporting and editing of the story. The video of the child should not have aired. As soon as news management identified the problem, they took immediate steps to ensure that the video would not air in subsequent newscasts. In addition, we have followed up with our employees to make sure that we all have learned from the mistakes that were made.”
Unacceptable. To twist the words of a four year old boy who really wanted a gun because he wanted to be a cop is disturbing. Senseless, irresponsible journalism for CBS2 Chicago and more important, for CBS News. The so-called Tyfanny Network when it comes to news has lost it’s shine. People who have no sense of the history of CBS News in the Walter Cronkite and William Paley days are running the show and even TMZ could boast better content that what was delivered by CBS2 News Chicago.
This is a true embarrassment for this station and network. But to whore out a four year old child and make him look like a thug is without question gutter, garbage journalism. We expect that from TMZ. Not from CBS.
The Maynard Institute released the actual footage to the world once this horrible broadcast effort was exposed. Bob Butler wrote a great article about the so-called journalistic integrity of CBS2 Chicago saying “it clearly leaves the viewer with a negative image.”
No kidding.
Don Maynard, President of the Maynard Institute told Butler “this appears to be overtly criminalizing a pre-schooler.”
Once again no kidding.
This is a sad example of the low-level hiring of talent in local TV news. Those who were in the TV news business that made the move to get out to salvage their integrity and career are no doubt not surprised. And this writer, me, is one person that stayed away from the business for many years because the hiring of talent and behind the scenes people in television was extremely suspect.
Even at the management level.
Clear example of the need to keep an eye on these so-called journalists. Again, you expect this from TMZ. Covering Jersey Shore on Entertainment Tonight, you know exactly what you’re going to get. But you don’t expect this from CBS News.
WBBM used to be what we called “legendary call letters in broadcast journalism. My have those days gone bye-bye.

So last week we did a story about a FOX 29 Philadelphia reporter getting beat up while doing a live report from one of those houses full of cats and dogs. He’s OK after a couple of guys first tried to knock out lighting during his live shot and then proceeded to push him in an attempt to get him out of the neighborhood.
As I say, “only in Philadelphia!”
ABC7 Reporter Leanne Suter
Now we have a different story that is typical Los Angeles. Two 15 year old boys were arrested for allegedly firing BB pellets at ABC7 reporter Leanne Suter and her photographer as she did a live report from the Fontana area of California.
Only in Los Angeles! But there is a difference between L.A. and Philly. Having lived in both cities, I have a statistical analysis of each when it comes to beating up reporters. Ready? In Philly, you beat up people first, then shoot them. In Los Angeles, you shoot them first.
Case closed. Gallup Polling should be calling me soon for a recap of my research.
Suter was covering the crazy weather we had out here yesterday where we there was sunshine in the city and rain in the outskirts when she was hit with a BB pellet in the hand. More BB pellets kept coming her way so fast that she and her photographer both jumped in their ABC7 remote van to get away from the onslaught. These two 15 year old delinquent morons kept firing at the van.
Suter was taken to a local hospital for treatment and released. The two future inmates were released to their parents and the district attorney’s office is deciding on what action to take against the two. Hey, how about charging them, maybe with something? Um, er, uh anything?
Arnold Kleiner, President and General Manager of ABC7 seven said “they could not have anticipated that someone would have targeted them in this way.”

Most of us older folk know her as Thirteen on the FOX hit television show House. Those in their younger years know her better for the work she did on The OC as Alex. Now her career is taking a bit of a move forward, or should I say like a rocket ship as Olivia Wilde’s big screen career is really blowing up.
With a significant role in the much marketed Cowboys and Aliens along with several future films on the block for Olivia Wilde, television is a thing of the past for this performer at least for now. Olivia Wilde has six, yes count them, six films that are going to be released in the next two years that will enhance her personal brand even more as a major name in Hollywood.
The Change Up, In Time and Butter are all films to be released sometime this year. Then Olivia Wilde has Blackbird and Welcome to People ready to launch in 2012 with The Words set for 2013.
And she’s on track for a long career as she’s only 27 years of age. Yes just 27. And she comes from pretty good parentage as both parents are in the media world. Her mother, Leslie Cockurn, is a producer for the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes and has written and produced several television documentaries. Her father Andrew Cockurn was born in London and is a journalist as well.
Married at 19 years of age to the documentary filmmaker Tao Rispoli, that union broke apart in February of this year as her career moves forward. And Maxim picked her as the hottest woman on the magazine’s Hot 100 in 2009. But if your’e looking to date Olivia Wilde don’t take her to a Ruth Chris Steakhouse as the performer is 100% vegan.
What’s the future? Well the list of movies shows just hot hot she is for anyone looking to get her to work on any future project. But where Olivia Wilde stands now is a long way from House and The OC.
