‘Occupy Wall Street’ Commercials Occupy TV Now (Video)

November 6th, 2011 No comments

So what city is not under siege.  And we’re not talking “under siege” as in a Steven Seagal series of movies we’re talking about how American cities are now becoming part of the political process by really ticking off the people who run Wall Street and what a perfect weekend to start an advertising campaign.

Why?

Well that Bank Transfer Day movement got a lot of people to switch their money from the big company owned properties like Bank of America and Wells Fargo to your local credit union.  Or what I did.  Move my business account from Wells Fargo to Comerica Bank, a small western region institution.

Well now the Occupy Wall Street movement is taking to television by now running commercials that started this weekend.  There’s not a whole heck of a lot of funding for OWS and this commercial campaign but you will see them running on Bloomberg, ESPN, CBS Sports, History Channel and other outlets airing through Monday.

How did they raise the capital to run these commercials?  168 citizens put up a little over $6,000 to produce and purchase the advertising time.

If you’ve been living under a rock over the last month or so, the Occupy Wall Street movement has targeted big U.S. corporations who are not reinvesting in to this country by hiring employees or in the banks case not loaning any money to individuals or small businesses.

Watch the commercial below.

Every TV, Radio Station to Shut Down Wednesday Says the FCC

November 5th, 2011 No comments

Wednesday at 2PM you can turn on every local TV station and hear nor see anything.  Not one station will be on the air on Wednesday November 9th at 2pm.  Try to listen to a local radio station…forget about it as well.  You will hear nothing but static, a long tone and an FCC notification from every  TV and radio station in the United States.

Huh?

Yep.  The Federal Communications Commission will be conducting a national test, not just one of those local ones you see or hear, next Wednesday.  All taking place at 2PM.

So don’t panic or freak out as the FCC is telling everyone.

Now since KTLA took off the second episode of Maury at 2PM, I probably will miss the Emergency Action System national meltdown but just chill.   “This is a test, this is only a test of the Emergency Alert System.

The full announcement from the FCC is below:

At the Federal Communications Commission’s June 9, 2011 Agenda meeting, Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau Chief Jamie Barnett, joined by representatives from FEMA and the National Weather Service, announced that the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) would take place at 2:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time) on November 9, 2011. The purpose of the test is to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the EAS as a public alert mechanism. EAS Participants currently participate in state-level monthly tests and local-level weekly tests, but no top-down review of the entire system has ever been undertaken. The Commission, along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will use the results of this nationwide test to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the EAS as a public alert mechanism, and will work together with EAS stakeholders to make improvements to the system as appropriate.

Duck!! Angry Soccer Player Kicks Ball Towards Woman’s Head (Video)

November 5th, 2011 No comments

So this is why people who work the media in the college or sports world take their own safety issues personally.  If you ever stood on the sideline of a football game, even Pop Warner League contest, you’d better keep you eyes and ears open wide so you don’t get hurt.

N0w there’s soccer.  Photographers and people on the sideline usually aren’t in the line of fire when it comes to danger from the players.  But during this Major Soccer League contest between the Los Angeles Galaxy and New York Red Bulls

Forward Luke Rodgers got the yellow card for targeting David Beckam’s ankles during the contest and got pissed at the referee because of the penalty.  Maybe he should have gone after another player’s ankles instead of the league’s superstar but that’s just a thought.

Rodgers then took the soccer ball and kicked it in anger toward the stands just missing a female spectator on the ground.

Duck!!!!

She did, just being missed by the ball.  Watch this video.  The woman was quick, gotta give her that.

Andy Rooney, TV & Radio Journalist Highlighted the Quality of CBS News (Videos)

November 5th, 2011 No comments

There’s a lot I can say about Andy Rooney.  Never met the guy but we all knew that his time with us would be limited after he announced his departure from CBS News followed shortly by his surgery where his family said nothing more than he was hospitalized.

Andy Rooney from '60 Minutes'

Last night Andy Rooney passed away at the age of 92. You can Google him to find out a log more than I can write about the 60 Minutes personality.  And I have to catch myself because Andy Rooney was a journalist rather than a personality.  Would never put this great newsman on the level of Kim Kardashian.  Nothing wrong with Kim Kardashian but Andy Rooney was a journalist, a newsman as we called them back in the 80′s during my days at CBS Radio in Philadelphia.

Not a personality.

Once again there’s a lot I can say about Andy Rooney.  From a personal standpoint.  But his passing brings back great memories of the quality of the greatness known as CBS News.  Some will miss him because of his time with 60 Minutes.  I’ll remember him for many other reasons beyond just seeing him on that show.

Check out some video content below of Andy Rooney.

Spanking Made Me a Better Person, But This Sick, Twisted Judge Beating His Kid is Sick and Twisted

November 4th, 2011 No comments

OK so I will admit it to everyone reading this story.  I got spanked as a kid.  Maybe a maximum of twice a week, minimum one time.  But that’s what happened to kids growing up in the 60′s  and 70′s.  That’s when tough love and Scared Straight weren’t needed because Mommy and Daddy took care of the home front.

That the way loves goes as Janet Jackson says in her song.  Especially in the hood.

These days kids need a baseball bat rather than a strap.  Back in the day we did Quaaludes and weed growing up.  Today, well today there’s so much more out there I’m glad the doctors took away my ability to reproduce via a vasectomy.

Thank God.

But this sick judge and his wife are totally sick you know whats and it begins with the letter “f’ with what they did to their own daughter.  I don’t have kids but if my brother or sister disciplined my niece or nephew in this manner I would shoot them. Yes with a shotgun.  Right in the head.   Between the eyes.

Authorities say the statute of limitations has passed on prosecuting Judge William Adams for assaulting his own kid.  And the mother is no candidate for Mother of the Year either.  These two people need Jesus in their lives.

For all the beatings I took as a kid, I never got one at this level.  I used to be able to talk my parents out of any real hard core violence by speaking to, at least my father, man to man.

Suggestion to all kids these days.  Tell your parents things that will make them laugh.  Speaking man to man to my Dad took away the harshness of the strap.

Just my story.  I’m sticking to it by saying these are the most worthless parents on earth.  Sick, twisted you know whats.  But I’ve seen this story all week and finally watched the video on YouTube.

These people, once again, need Jesus in their lives.

“Are you my baby Daddy?” Justin Bieber’s Baby Mama Drama

November 4th, 2011 No comments

Somebody get Maury Povich on line one!  A paternity test is needed and now maybe Maury will have some new episodes instead of the same ones he’s been running on his daily show for the last two years.

Fast forward to Justin Bieber and his current “you are the father”episode of his own.  The superstar performer has been accused by Mariah Yeater of San Diego of being her infant son’s daughter’s biological dad.  Yeater claims she and Bieber did the wild thing in a backstage bathroom of the Staples Center after a concert last year.

“None of those allegations are true,” Bieber told Ann Curry, Matt Lauer and Al Roker this morning on Today.  “I’m going to be a target but I’m never going to be a victim,” he continued.

Sounds like Herman Cain doesn’t he?

Bieber claims that he doesn’t even know Yeater yet the teenager says she wants him to head over to Maury and provide some spit on the tip of a cotton swab.  She’s already starter the process of “putting him on paper” by filing paperwork for looking for child support and a paternity test.

But from Bieber…”I’ve never met the woman.”

Of course there will be a lot more to come on this story.  Stay tuned.

‘New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel Now Has ‘Old’ Husband

November 1st, 2011 No comments

Wow, is that how it works in Hollywood?  Get a massive new hit TV show on FOX and lose your husband of two years?  Yes according to the performer who has one of television’s hottest new shows this season.

Zooey Deschanel from FOX TV’s new New Girl, has split from her husband but has not beat out Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries on timing.  Instead of K&K’s two month plus marriage which unexpectedly went  bye bye over the last couple of days, Zooey Deschanel and musician husband Ben Gibbard have decided to take the vows they said to each other in September 2009 in Seattle and toss them like a fish as the fish market in that city.

Zooey Deschanel as 'Jess' in 'New Girl' on FOX

Us Weekly says the split was “mutual and amicable” which leads us back to the so called “irreconcilable differences” line used by everyone in Hollywood when their short term marriages don’t work.

Just for the record Zooey’s character on New Girl, also did a split up with her boyfriend on the show so she’s playing the part of her real life on the hit show.  Except on New Girl, after the breakup she moves in to an apartment with three guys.

Not sure that’s gonna be the case in Zooey Deschanel’s real life.  Bottom line…she has a hit show and he has, well some band called Death Cab for Cutie which shows the demographic split from my life to their world because I’ve never heard of these performers.

“You can do what you wanna do,” More ‘In Living Color” (Video)

October 31st, 2011 No comments

It’s coming back.  The show that made FOX what it became in the 90′s and help lead it to the only network out of the major four that has show a rise in audience numbers is going back to basics and we think this is a smart move because In Living Color was a monster on FOX.

Robert Townsend, Damon Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans

Two half hour specials are planned for In Living Color on FOX and if all goes well the show well receive an expanded number of episodes to relaunch the series in a big way.

With the upcoming 25 anniversary of the network known as FOX, bringing back In Living Color is part of that celebration.  Will the original members of that show return?  Jim Carrey made his bones on In Living Color along with Flygirl Jennifer Lopez as in American Idol‘s Jennifer Lopez and the likes of David Allen Grier also became well known names from In Living Color.

This will be fun.  Damon Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans, who was part of the original show, will be back as part of this program when it returns to FOX.

“Surprise, Surprise!,” Says Kim Kardashian to Kris Humphries, 72 Day Marriage is Over

October 31st, 2011 No comments

Well that wasn’t long her.  72 days if you’re counting the actual days from the wedding of the year and we’re not talking about Kate Middleton when we use the word “her” in the first sentence of this story has nothing to do with the royal wedding but “her” happens to be Kim Kardashian who tied the know with NBA player Kris Humphries.

Word comes that Kim didn’t really tell her husband she was divorcing him.  This dope found out through media reports that she had filed papers to split from him.

You just have to laugh yourself silly at this guy.  What a dork!

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries - Khloe Kardashian's 27th Birthday Celebration at Chateau Nightclub in Las Vegas

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries - Khloe Kardashian's 27th Birthday Celebration at Chateau Nightclub in Las Vegas

All that money, all that hype and all of that effort made by, well all of us for this wedding and we only get 72 days.

They’re calling it the world famous “irreconcilable differences” which is the easy way get out of a high profile divorce these days as the couple call it quits to their marriage.  And for the record upwards of $20 million was spent on this event that was even put on E! cable channel as a special.

So Kris Humprhies is losing a lot these days.  Big NBA money because of the league walkout and now a wife.

E! the so titled Family Kardashian Cable Television Network, is in emergency meetings trying to figure out what to do with this issue.  Guess that’s what you get when you build your network all on the backs of one family.

Once again this has got to be the most laughable day in 2011.  Maybe through 2012.  This is hilarious.

‘Grimm’ Nice Friday Fright Night NBC Surprise

October 30th, 2011 No comments

OK so we have more monsters to talk about.  The Walking Dead on AMC is out of this world.  One of television’s solid shows.  American Horror Story is so twisted and psychotic just keeping up with the content throughout this show leaves more questions than answers which just keeps you wanting the next episode to start just after you watched the last episode.  Now NBC brings the new series Grimm which surprisingly was more than entertaining if you want, well more monsters.

David Giuntoli as 'Nick Burkhardt' in 'Grimm'

OK so their not really monsters.  They’re called Hexenbiests and Blutbads. Yeah you have to watch the  pilot episode to figure out what these mythical creatures who double as human beings in parts of their lives really are.  But Portland Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) finds out he’s part of a group of people who battle back and forth with each other in modern times.

Russell Hornsby

Now the Detective has to keep his new found relations a secret from his partner Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby) and enlists the help of a former Grimm creature to solve crimes taking place in his district.

Grimm is certainly not The Walking Dead or American Horror Story but serves up a great way to get to Halloween 2011.  The show is very entertaining and fits in well with the new genre of monster content on network or cable television.

Definitely worth the hour.
