‘Occupy LA’ Getting Put Out Now, Miley Cyrus Drops ‘Occupy LA” and Everywhere Video

November 27th, 2011 No comments

Sunday night at midnight was supposed to be the deadline for those involved in Occupy LA demonstrations as police came in to remove the Los Angeles version of Occupy OA.  Cops in riot gear pushed them back off of city sidewalks.

Occupy LA is pretty much being dismantled.  But there could be more tension as tents that were supposed to be removed.  Three persons were detained for throwing objects at police.

In the meantime Hannah Montana is certainly growing up isn’t she?  Miley Cyrus probably would like to take that character that made her pretty much who she is today is getting far, far away from being the cute little girl singing and dancing on The Disney Channel and getting her brand involved in supporting the Occupy Wall Street movement that has not only taking place here in the United States but the Occupy protests taking place across the world.

The performer has now released her own video and song in support of the effort of Occupy where regular, everyday people are protesting against the lack of any government in any country to provide jobs and a good economy so that we can all get back to making the same bucks we used to make a few years ago.  A few years ago meaning that things in this country and globally were better a few years back which kinda tells you how things suck pretty much today.

It’s A Liberty Walk is a compilation of all demonstrations taking place worldwide.  It features the protesting and the clashes with police.

Is Miley going to head down to Wall Street to join the protestors.  Not.  And quite frankly most people who are protesting probably have no clue as to who is Miley Cyrus.  Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie are perfect to join since they pretty much need the public relations effort.

Anyway the video is below for your viewing.

No Pro Basketball, Not on Thanksgiving Night? Finally a Deal, Lockout Ends

November 27th, 2011 No comments

OK so for the record at a certain point I brought myself to the reality that having no NBA games to watch on television was OK.  But after this holiday, after consuming a lot of turkey, stuffing and very expensive scotch, Thanksgiving night came along and the tradition of watching at least one pro basketball game, the max of two.

Nothing.  Nothing.  Not one game.  No LeBron.  No Kobe.  Nothing.

Boomer, Back to Work in NBA's Indiana Pacers

Thanksgiving was a heck of a deadline for the lockout of players in the National Basketball Association.  The loss of NBA games being televised over this holiday is a huge public relations nightmare for the NBA.  Huge.  Holidays as Thanksgiving and Christmas as is watching every team play a daytime game on Martin Luther King’s Monday holiday is nothing more that fantastic.

Losing Thanksgiving night games is a disaster for the NBA.  There may not be the return of any interest in the NBA at expected levels until the league gets past this supposed 62 game season and the 2012-2013 season of a full 82 game season begins.

But no matter what there is Christmas.  The league is expected to broadcast three national television games that day to get the season back on track.  And today no matter what the time-out cheerleaders look like as seen in the photo, it may be a long time before this big basketball fan comes back to watching NBA games as I have in the past.

Greed is not good.  When people fight over millions of dollars while the regular rank and file is struggling it takes a minute to get back to supporting a bunch of rich, spoiled basketball players and team owners who today want to make money rather than seeing the ownership of an NBA franchise as an ego builder.   But I, like a lot of sports fans, like the NBA for the sport of the game.  But it’s going to take a minute.  A long minute.

Expected & Projected, J. R. Martinez, Karina Smirnoff Win ‘Dancing With the Stars’

November 23rd, 2011 No comments

So was there any other outcome?  Nope.  As expected and projected, no other couple had America standing behind them during the finale of the ABC smash series Dancing With the Stars than actor/war veteran J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff.

Karina Smirnoff and J.R. Martinez, Season 13 Winners on 'Dancing With the Stars'

The couple walked away with the grand prize after Season 13 concluded as J.R. and Karina took home the title.  “I want to say you (Karina) are amazing,” said Martinez of his partner on Dancing With the Stars for the last 10 weeks of competition.  “You are amazing and I’m so grateful that I was able to be part of your first mirror ball trophy.  Thank you very much.”

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke picked up second place on Dancing With the Stars while Ricki Lake and Derek Hough came in third.

The Roots ‘Questlove’ Smacked by Jimmy Fallon After Diss of Michele Bachmann

November 22nd, 2011 No comments

So Lou Dobbs introduction song on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show from The Roots was Illegal Alien from Genesis.  Lou has said some interesting comments about the immigration issue during his time on CNN.  Kathie Lee Gifford got Red Red Wine since she’s a regular red wine drinker when she sits next to Hoda Kotb when they host the Today Show on NBC.

OK not bad so far right.

Keith Olbermann was greeted by the Philly band The Roots with I Miss You from Klymaxx.

Still OK, ya think?  Even if MSNBC fired Olbermann and The Roots get paid by NBC.

'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' bandleader Ahmir Khalib Thompson aka "Questlove"

Enter Michele Bachmann.  Oh my.  Her position on, well just about every topic has pissed off a lot of liberals and when she appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, she was brought on stage with the music from Fishbone’s 1985 tune Lyin’ Ass Bitch.

OK maybe not the song you’d pick to introduce any person running for President even if it is Michele Bachmann whom I personally think is crazy and psychotic but if I’m going to blog about the trailer trash booing Michele Obama, I have to give the same support to Michele Bachmann.

Gotta be fair and a bad decision by The Roots.  Bandleader Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson apologized for his selection of the song saying “The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt.”

Yeah, righto there Questlove.

Jimmy Fallon when made aware of the song selection Tweeted that Questlove “was grounded” and the Bachmann campaign just shrugged it off as most conservatives feel NBC and its news properties are in the back pocket of this current White House.

And the show must go on right?  Yet I still think Michelle Bachmann is a nut.

“I do, I don’t, I will, I won’t!” Finally Ali Fedotowsky, ‘Bachelorette’ Boyfriend Roberto Martinez Split

November 22nd, 2011 No comments

In the who really cares department let’s say a lot of people really care because Ali Fedotowsky is probably one of the best remembered contestants on the ABC reality show The Bachelorette.  Part of her claim to fame is the on again off again on again off again on again off again wedding to Roberto Martinez that was set to happen three times yet, of course this being reality television, nothing happened.

Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez

Seems there won’t be a fourth time for Ali Fedotowsky or Roberto Martinez as the couple have finally called it quits.  Fedotowsky has already moved out of the home the two shared in San Diego and is not taking the split very well.  “She’s actually really upset,” a friend told Us Weekly about her current position.  Another person close to the couple said “they haven’t been well for along time.”

Apparently the starts and stops were not attributed to Ali Fedotowsky’s work schedule nor her kick boxing injury.  Seems they just don’t get along very well which is standard for reality television.

“Their either extremely happy or they can’t stand each other,” said a person close to the couple.

Sounds like a marriage made in hell.

Tragic Cost of Reality TV, Cops Look for Missing Mom from ‘The People’s Court’

November 22nd, 2011 No comments

You can always say “no.”  Once again you can always say “no.”  But some people are just too plain dumb and stupid, thinking that this will be their 15 minutes of fame or even thinking that they’re smart enough to outsmart the judge in a court of law.

Been there, tried that, let me say this for the record.  If you think you’re going to outsmart any TV judge or one that doesn’t have a syndicated television show you are sorely mistaken.

Michele Lee Parker may have made the biggest mistake of her life by agreeing to try her case on The People’s Court.  She felt “humiliated” by the experience and now the 33 year old mother of three who exposed her whole life on a daytime judge show is missing.  Her late model Hummer was found on the west side of Orlando which is the last place authorities can place Parker.

She had a violent relationship with her former boyfriend who was the plaintiff in the case on The People’s Court but he apparently is not a suspect in the case of the missing woman.  They battled over a missing engagement ring that she said she lost during a fight.  The show aired on national television last week.

For the last time, for the very last time, people who go on any reality show including shows like The People’s Court need to evaluate the effect such a stupid move will have on their life and lives of their families.

Is This Fiat Commercial Too Hot for American Television?

November 21st, 2011 No comments

The Fiat 500 Abarth is not going to be available until mid year 2012 but the commercial released by the company during the Los Angeles Auto Show that started this past weekend started the new marketing direction for the brand.

Now personally the Abarth is nothing for someone over 6 feet all.  It’s small, compact and may not fit in the realm of past Fiat philosophies as in “Fix It Again, Tony” but why the chatter over whether United States broadcast outlets may walk away from running the commercial is a bit much.

Watch it for yourself.  As part of the two media days where this commercial was launched, most in the audience applauded the creativity of the content and at least this writer felt no need to ban it from any domestic network.

Take the ad money I say.  Not like the advertising business is gangbusters this year.  Meaning that any network that turns down this commercial is a foolish network.

Judge for yourself.

“Party of Five’ Actor Jammed Up for Domestic Assault

November 21st, 2011 No comments

Seems Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Pinsky might need to make a call to Dr. Phil.  Whatever the VH1 show is doing certainly does not fall under successful therapeutic intervention because most of the so-called celebrities who appear on the show get arrested while some even end up meeting Saint Peter.

Jeremy London

Now comes former Party of Five actor Jeremy London who spent time with Dr. Drew and is in the same legal position Lindsay Lohan’s dad Michael.  London is in the wind being sought by authorities  in Palms Springs, California for beating up his unidentified girlfriend.  Although London’s lawyer says the assault did not take place, police in the resort city says an argument ensued over the couple’s custody arrangement over their child.

Jeremy London allegedly assaulted the woman outside her home in Palm Springs where cops say she suffered minor injuries.

‘CSI’ Gets New Regular in Elisabeth Shue

November 20th, 2011 No comments

If you didn’t already know, Marg Helgenberger is leaving CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.  OK let’s say Catherine Willows who Marg plays was offered a big time gig in New York with the current administration doing something a lot different than scraping up dead bodies in and around the Las Vegas strip.  She was offered the gig in last week’s episode and will likely be Willows and Marg Helgenberger’s exit strategy.

Elisabeth Shue

Now her replacement has been named.  Academy Award winner Elisabeth Shue will join the CBS drama on February 15th of next year.

Ted Danson’s D.B. Russell, who just joined the Las Vegas CSI team as their leader, apparently has an interesting history with Elisabeth Shue’s character as he fired her from the last gig she held with him in Seattle.
