‘American Idol’s Jennifer Lopez Love Song Breakdown at Mohegan Sun

October 24th, 2011 No comments

Seems the break-up with Marc Anthony has led to an on-stage breakdown for American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez.

Or is this just another publicity stunt since I got an e-mail over the weekend about the start of the new season 11 of American Idol on FOX.  That new promotional video premiered during the World Series last night as well.

Jennifer Lopez "LOVE?" CD Signing at the Hollywood and Highland Courtyard in Los Angeles

Yeah, timing is everything.  And the producers of American Idol will be going all out to damp down any more talk about the new FOX program The X Factor.

Jennifer Lopez was appearing was performing a love song on stage at Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino in Connecticut this past Saturday when she became some emotional during the rendition that she bolted off stage.

Gotta believe marriage number fourteen or whatever to Marc Anthony really meant something.

“I’m going to sing you the last song I wrote about love,” said Lopez before performing the tune and bolting off stage.  “A lot has changed since then.”

Yeah, that will get the tears flowing.

And then strangely enough the stage show broke in to her song “Until It Beats No More” where the stage dancers did a routine where Puff Daddy, Ben Affleck and Cris Judd look-a-likes performed a bunch of choreographed routines.

Oh yeah, this is a great PR stunt.

“I took a trip down memory lane,” said a sobbing Lopez to her audience at the show.

Yeah and you sent us down that same lane, where most of us did not want to go.

American Idol debuts on FOX Sunday January 22nd with a great lead in from the NFL Championship Playoff game.

Giuliana Rancic Going Back to Work After Surprising Announcement

October 23rd, 2011 No comments

When she sat on the set of The Today Show on NBC she was promoted as having a major announcement and most viewers thought she was going to say she was pregnant after invitro fertilization attempts at trying.  It was supposed to be a happy day for those who know Giuliana Rancic effort and those who’ve seen her  from her reporting on the E! cable network.

Bill and Giuliana Rancic

That announcement was far from happy.  Giuliana Rancic told the world she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone a double lumpectomy after doctors made the discovery during a mammogram.

With October being Breast Cancer Month the focus on her diagnosis was even more clear.  Especially since she’s only 36 years old.

Now with her prognosis great because they discovered the disease early, husband Bill Rancic let everyone know that Giuliana will be returning to work this week.  A day after making the announcement on October 17th, Giuliana had the procedure and all went very well.  “She pulled though it and was kind of relieved to get it over,” Bill said to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jennifer Morrison Returns in ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time’ (Video)

October 23rd, 2011 No comments

I watched the opening segment of tonight’s new entry in to TV world titled Once Upon a Time and I guess I’m still confused.  What is this show really about?  So what does that do for me?  Well it makes me set up Once Upon a Time on my DVR to watch the rest of this show to get a full understanding of the fairytale/contemporary world drama premiering tonight at 8 on ABC.

Jennifer Morrison is 'Emma' on ABC's 'Once Upon a Time'

Jennifer Morrison (House) heads back to prime time television along with the Lane Parilla (24, Boomtown) who battle for good and evil in fairytale land and the contemporary world.

Lane Parilla, the 'Evil Queen' and 'Regina' in 'Once Upon a Time'

The Evil Queen (Parilla) casts a spell on everyone sending them from fairyland to the future where she is the Mayor of a small town in Maine called Storybooke.

This one I really have a hard time to understand but I will be watching to try and figure this new show and what it’s all about.

Catherine Tate Returns Mid Season to ‘The Office’

October 22nd, 2011 No comments

Nellie Bertram is coming back.  You remember she was one of the potential replacements for Michael Scott (Steve Carell) in the final episode of The Office last season before James Spader’s Robert California was selected for the job.

Now Nellie returns as Catherine Tate brings back her role mid season to The Office. Instead of the regional manager role she initially pitched as Nellie, Tate will now take the position as corporate special projects manager.

Catherine Tate is a huge name in Great Britain.  She hosted the award winning BBC show The Catherine Tate Show on that network and was Donna Noble in the fourth go round of the that network’s series Dr. Who.  She’s also performed in several films including Gulliver’s Travels and Starter for Ten.

“We introduced her briefly and knew she had to be part of the show,” said executive producer Paul Lieberstein.

You can read the full NBC press release below.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – October 21, 2011British Comedy Award winner and BAFTA nominee Catherine Tate (BBC’s “The Catherine Tate Show”) returns to “The Office” this season reprising her role as Nellie Bertram. Joining the second half of the current season, Tate’s Bertram is hired by friend and Chairman of the Board Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates, not seen) as a misguided special projects manager working directly for the corporate office and who very much enjoys the favoritism received from Bennett.

Tate was introduced to “The Office” audience in last season’s finale episode as one of the candidates interviewing for the regional manager position left vacant by Michael Scott.

“Catherine is hysterical. We introduced her briefly in last season’s finale and knew she had to be a part of the show somehow. We’ll meet her again as corporate’s special projects manager, and her relationship with Robert California (James Spader) will be far from professional. We’re thrilled that she’s joining the cast,” said executive producer Paul Lieberstein.

Tate’s acting credits include the multi-award-winning BBC series, “The Catherine Tate Show,” which showcased her chameleon-like talent for character transformation. In addition to playing Donna Noble (the Doctor’s companion) in the 4th series of BBC’s “Doctor Who.” Tate also co-starred in the feature films “Gulliver’s Travels,” “Monte Carlo,” “Mrs. Ratcliffe’s Revolution,” “66” and “Starter for Ten.”

Theatre work includes the lead role of Belinda in the National Theatre production “Season’s Greetings” and Beatrice in the West End production of “Much Ado About Nothing,” David Eldridge’s “Under the Blue Sky,” “Some Girls” and “A Servant to Two Masters” for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Tate wrote, directed and co-starred in the acclaimed short film “My First Nativity” for the Sky “Little Cracker’s” season. In addition to being the key writer for her own series, Tate has a feature script currently in development.

Dropped by ‘Children’ Susan Lucci Becomes ‘Army Wives’

October 22nd, 2011 No comments

Well she’s back.  Susan Lucci didn’t take long to find new work.  And this show is a perfect place for the All My Children star who got left in the cold when ABC Television decided ratings for the soap were too low to keep running the show.  Replaced byThe Chew.

Yeah that’s a really boring food show that doesn’t have long.

Susan Lucci will appear opposite Kim Delaney for two episodes of Lifetime Television series Army Wives.  Lucci will play the wife of a retired army general in the series.  She will be looking for more work after these two shots because Susan has decided against joining the new version of All My Children that will launch only online in 2012.

My Beef with KTLA, No Double-Shot of ‘Maury’ and No ‘Cheaters’

October 21st, 2011 No comments

OK you all know I like KTLA.  I think they have he best morning news team in the market and I can now even get local news from KTLA Channel 5 on Saturdays and Sundays.  When you wake up in the morning, everyone involved with the news content is perfectly tailored (hey it’s L.A.!) but it’s fun to watch the performers there every day.

OK so they make me laugh.  Nice at 5AM.  Cup of coffee, feed the lion, watch KTLA.

Now I gotta bitch at the person who made the decision to ruin my trash television.  Dropping the second episode of Maury for this guy Bill Cunningham only gives me one shot at “you are the father” trashy TV content.  Yeah, KTLA used to run two Maury episodes or Murray as some of their guests would say, twice a day.

Then I woke up a couple of Sundays back, looking for my morning delight looking for Joey Greco to bust cheating spouses or significant others on Cheaters.

Um there was nothing on my DVR indicating a recorded episode of Cheaters, which is now relegated to KDOC TV down in Orange County.

Yeah, I know, who?  KDOC?  Never heard of them.

Now don’t get me wrong.  The Bill Cunningham Show is trashy.  Today it was an episode about cougars and I don’t mean the ones running around Ohio.  I’m talking chicks in their 40′s and 50′s dating much younger men.

Here’s the problem.  All of those women were ugly!

At least on a Maury episode, taking away every obese woman who got knocked up by some guy with 14 other children, you get some pretty decent looking ghetto rats and trailer trash.

But these women today were downright in need of a brown paper bag from Trader Joe’s.

Gotta be honest.  You know those shows Maury does when viewers try to guess whether it’s a man or a woman…hell, some of those cross-dressers looked better than some of those beat cougars on The Bill Cunningham Show.  Yeah these are guys!

There is some good news.  The Bill Cunningham Show did one thing for me.  I’m gonna keep hitting on and dating women in their 20′s and 30′s.  Thank you Bill.  And I gotta admit, as much as I miss Maury, that Bill Cunningham dude is relatively entertaining.

But Maury did some good for me as well.  First, I’m now really good at picking the real sex of cross-dressing men which helps out in certain areas of Hollywood, California.

Um, that’s a good thing.

Bad thing is I don’t get to identify women who can’t stop making babies so if I consume a bit too much scotch one night and forget to stop by Walgreens for specific preventative items, I could be his next guest.

Then there’s Cheaters.  Well at least I found it on KDOC.  And dating women in their 20′s and 30′s I do need to know how not to get caught.  These young girls don’t play and two cars keyed by a couple of them plus one pissed off boyfriend are not good for my long term goals of reaching retirement age.

But at least I found Cheaters.

Dang KTLA.

‘American Horror Story’ Relatively Sick, Twisted, Whacked Out Drama on TV

October 20th, 2011 No comments

OK so episode three of American Horror Story.  Murder House is the name of this one.  This is without question the most sick, twisted, totally whacked out drama on cable, network or pay television.

Gotta love American Horror Story.

Now that Hayden (Kate Mara) and Larry Harvey (Dennis O’Hare) are pretty sick you know whats.  Sorry but we can use the “f” word on this blog as we consider this family type content.

'American Horror Story' with Connie Britton (Vivien Harmon), Dylan McDermott (Ben Harmon) and Taissa Farmiga (Violet Harmon)

OK maybe we don’t go that far.  But American Horror Story is quite the coolest new show on FX.

Episode three is quite the opposite of the first two hits for this show.  This is not your father’s Oldsmobile as the commercials used to sell us on back in the day.  Jessica Lange  is incredibly sick as Constance let alone her daughter who didn’t get enough oxy when she was born.

This show takes you to where you never expect to go.  Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton are without question pulling off their best performances as actors and if you saw her in Friday Night Lights or him in, well just about anything he’s been in, even the short run Dark Blue on TNT, this is the best for both.

You gotta catch up on this if you haven’t found American Horror Story.  You gotta catch up.

One Word on This Al Jazeera, Muammar Gaddafi Video…”Dang!” (Watch Here)

October 20th, 2011 No comments

Hey this story is trending hot right now on the web.  Number 1!  As we used to say in radio.  But this is the end of a dictator and one of the reasons why Barack Obama decided not to show any photographs of a dead Osama Bin Laden because this video content of the Libyan rebels ending the life of Muammar Gaddafi is pretty awful.

Seems the rebels really didn’t like this man.  Which leads most to ask why, knowing that this was his final future, would the guy not take his millions of dollars and get the hell out of Libya.  He has his chance but being a dictator for so long must have made him real stupid.

Most of us would have been long gone!

But no, he had to stay around and stick his nose up to everyone who wanted him to go away.  Today he got his paybacks and this video shows paybacks can be a very serious bitch.

Muammar is gone.  Dead.  The jig is up.  But as they say on TV, like a lot on a cable channel, viewer discretion of this Al Jazeera video content is advised.

British Women Blame ‘Man Flu’ on TV Sports

October 20th, 2011 No comments

So I had to find out more on this story.  First this no doubt will be coming to the United States soon.  Like The X Factor, which started on British television that came to FOX, the British Man Flu will make its way to America.

Once again no doubt.  American women, here’s your next issue to take to Dr. Phil or Dr. Drew.  One in five women surveyed in Great Britain believe that men watching sports on television causes Man Flu where men exaggerate a simple cold for the flu.

OK I love TV sports.  This is a bit ridiculous.  But wait, there’s more.

That 20% of British women believe now that television sports is what’s getting men to use the Man Flu sickness on their need to fall prostrate on the couch to watch TV sports.  So when there’s a really good game on television, men claim to be sick and can’t move themselves…off the couch…all because of Man Flu.

I’m kinda liking this, I really am.

This is the first time sports has been associated with the Man Flu.  And you know people in America…they will create a malady for every lazy activity men or women engage in so developing a drug for Man Flu could be next.

Researchers see no scientific connection between televised sports and the Man Flu.  But the next time LeBron versus Kobe is on ABC TV one Sunday afternoon, I’m going to see if the Man Flu works to keep me focused on that game rather than going to an art show opening or an afternoon walk on the beach.

Gotta love this new Man Flu!

Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith Buy the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers

October 20th, 2011 No comments

So goes the rumors that their marriage is on the rocks.  Not sure either person in the power couple would invest any of their hard earned cash in to a professional basketball team if divorce was in their future.

Tom Cruise, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith will be sitting “in the front row” as the couple has purchased a minority interest in the National Basketball Association team the Philadelphia 76ers.  Now no one knows if there will be an NBA season at all this year and even the back half of the 76ers schedule is at risk because of the current player lockout.  But whenever the games return, expect to see the power couple at the Wachovia Center during the team’s run to make the playoffs.

Comcast-Spectacor has shed its interest in the team to pretty much focus on Comcast’s new ownership and management of NBC.  The group owned the 76ers for 15 years and with the sale the new Smith owners are not expected to have any day to day control over the operation of the team.
