"Good Luck Charlie" with (L to R) Eric Allan Kramer, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Mia Telerico, Bridgit Mendler, Bradley Steven Perry and Jason Dolley...
It’s a pretty good article from the L.A. Times. As the Disney Corporation drives itself slowly in to the 20th century and we do mean the 20th century, attempts to grow the Disney Channel toward an older viewer is underway.
‘Good Luck Charlie’ is on board with the network and hopes to extend the audience kid segment to parents are the goal of this new show. Some look at this new program as similar to ‘The Wonder Years’ and “The Cosby Show’ with more adult storylines but still kid friendly. This begs the question why not put this on the ABC rather than the Disney Channel but we don’t run the show.
Garry Marsh, Disney Channel Entertainment president told the L.A. Times, “if we do our jobs properly and we create the authenticity we’re talking about, it will allow us to tackle stories in a more grounded way that will be more appealing to parents than other shows we’ve done before.”
Vincent Chase is back. OK so he never really left except that there will probably be an ‘Entourage’ movie coming to the big screen. But Adrien Grenier who made ‘Vince’ famous on the HBO series has a new documentary coming to the network.
‘Teenage Paparazzo’ is the film HBO picked up looking at the life of a 14 year old paparazzo and follows the kid’s life as he chases down celebrities.
Boring…really boring.
But what else what HBO to do, turn down Adrien Grenier?
OK so they’ve got Matt Damon, Eva Longoria Parker, Paris Hilton, Alec Baldwin and Whoopi Goldberg all making appearances in the film but this looks to be a snoozer just from the PR on the project.
Her battle with breast cancer is over and now it time for her to get back to work.
You go girl!
Maura Tierney, who had to turn down a plum position because of the disease which affects 1 in 8 women in their lifetime, is returning to ‘Rescue Me’ for the series final season in 2011.
Filming for both season six and seven will take place all at the same time so when the show returns this year she will not be part of that production. Tierney was ’Kelly McPhee’ in the 5th season of the series and the love interest of Dennis Leary’s character.
Tierney through her rep told TVGuide.com she has completed treatment and ”is happy to move forward with the next phase of her life.”
This one is going to get nasty. Really nasty. Expect some big bucks to fly on both sides of this. ABC and Marc Cherry, producer of the ABC show ‘Desperate Housewives’ is being sued for $20,000,000 for assaulting Nicollette Sheridan after she complained about his ‘improper behavior.”
Cherry allegedly struck Sheridan in the head and she went to his superiors to complain. That move by her to expose Cherry got her fired from the show, according to paperwork filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Cherry also is alleged to have forced Teri Hatcher to head over to Riverside Drive in Burbank to complain about his behavior.
Sheridan’s character was killed off the show. And she was making $175,000 an episode so she’s hitting them up for loss of future wages as she believes she still would have been employed but for this incident.
Lauren Conrad is gone. So were a lot of viewers after she left the show. But word has it that the catty Miss Lauren will be making an appearance on ‘The Hills’ went it goes back on MTV in April. This is the final season for the show and the last 12 episodes hit the air on April 27th.
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will be the focus of the show that centered on a bunch of spoiled brats with money having fun, seeking romance and hanging out in Hollywood just doing what people do in Hollywood.
Not much of anything.
Anyway the goings on during this show is always fun to watch.
Let’s see he’s gone up in to the seating area to fight with fans in Detroit, he used to be one of the leaders in the NBA for technical fouls and one of his bodyguards almost pulled this writer out of a cab in New York city after saying “what’s up Ronnie” when he was recognized coming out of a Nike Store.
What’s next?
Defensive superstar Ron Artest has cleaned up his act. No more rushing and beating fans at NBA games, only a handful of technical fouls this season with the Lakers and no more big dudes protecting him and threatening to grab guys out of taxis in New York.
Whew!!
Ron Artest though is getting a show on E! and the name is perfect for the network that gives shows to a lot of people with arrest records so ‘They Call Me Crazy’ is coming to the network. The series will actually do some good as Ron will mentor up and coming artists through his record label Tru Warier.
Some quick hits for you…Lindsey is still pumping hot after her Olympic Gold Medal. Now she’s getting her first TV role on ‘Law & Order” and it’s her favorite show. She’ll play an office assistant in the season’s finale.
Julianne Moore
Guess who’s going back to the soaps? Julianne Moore, who started her career in daytime, will be doing a cameo back in her old role on ’As The World Turns.” She will re-do her role as Frannie Hughes showing up on the show to celebrate the anniversary of her mother and father.Chad Lowe is headed over to ABC Family in a drama titled ‘Pretty Little Liars.’ Lowe is cast as the father of one of the main teen characters in the along with three other same aged girls who start receiving mysterious messages from a one of their friends who disappeared years ago.
Chad Lowe and Rob Lowe
Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres
And Gina Torres, wife of ‘CSI’ lead Laurence Fishburne, is with ABC Family as well in a new project titled ‘Huge’ about a weight loss camp for kids.
Now this is a casting call to talk about. First the TV show, then comes the stage show, a monster hit on I Tunes and now we’re all going to get a chance to be on one of FOX’s top new shows. ‘Glee’ is putting on nationwide search for performers interested in being part of the second season of the show.
Amateurs and professional performers are all welcome to apply with an online video and you have to be between the ages of 16 and 26.
Guess that’s about it for me!
But for those of YOU, you lucky dogs, here’s what you have to do. Put together your video and then get more information by going to myspace.com/gleeauditions for more details.
The ongoing bad behavior of reality show wannabes continues. This time Season Six contestant Stephanie Edwards was busted in Savannah, Georgia for getting in to a brawl with another girl outside a nightclub. Edwards apparently went to the home of the female identified as Laquila White after the second combatant was accused of making threatening phone calls to Edwards.
The brawl ensued and Edwards was cuffed and taken in to custody to the Chatham County Corrections Department. No other details were forthcoming.
You can dance with the stars and you can think you want to dance so CBS is joining ABC and Fox in creating their own dance TV show ‘Got To Dance’ which is a new competition series based on, you guessed it, a popular British television show.
‘Got To Dance’ has been a smash for Britain’s ‘Sky 1′ and is the top pay TV show on the network. So you can be just one person or a group of dancers who can compete on the CBS version of the show. The best of all competing will perform live during the semi finals and finals when it gets to that point during the series.
