I like Roger Lodge. He was really good when he hosted that Blind Date show. Remember that? Yeah that was a funny show. People going on really bad dates, like my experience on Match.com.
But today he’s on my really stupid list person list. The really stupid person list.
How in the world can he say what he said on the KTLA Morning News program and expect anyone to buy his act anymore? I know in radio, Rog, that you have to shock your listeners, but to put this on KTLA, well, that was a bit more shocking than I need before I watch you and the crew, then make my switch over to Today on NBC.
Unless it really is an act, which I don’t believe, because his input in the KTLA Morning News program is always something that I like to watch and hear. He’s usually pretty good.
Roger Lodge, KTLA Sports Guy and Morning Drive Host on KLAA 830AM
C’mon Roger, you really know your sports. But how can you end up on my really stupid person list? I’m hurt by your comments this morning, now curled up in a fetal position in the corner of my Koreatown apartment, shades drawn, not able to do my mile walk to my office and get to work.
Your fault Roger Lodge, your fault.
This is L.A. Somebody get my therapist on line one!
OK so here’s what has me reaching for my medication. Roger Lodge is the host of the Morning Sports Lodge in KLAA 830AM Radio in Los Angeles. He does a hit every morning on the KTLA Morning News program hosted by a solid team of local TV folks in Megan Henderson, Chris Schauble, Henry DiCarlo and Ginger Chan.
It’s good TV. They make me laugh. Kinda what I get from one of my Match.com dates. Yeah a lot of laughs. Then call block. But anyway…
So Roger comes on, in the midst of my first cup of coffee, to do a short bit every morning before 7AM on KTLA and today’s topic was Lebron James and his press conference where he mumbled the word “retarded” in front of what we call a live microphone in the broadcasting business.
Not good for Lebron. But that’s Lebron’s problem.
What Roger Lodge said about King James and his “retarded” statement, well maybe Roger Lodge needs to stay away from his mike. Let’s review what Rog had to say.
“Remember a couple of weeks ago when Kobe made a homophobic slur on the Laker bench…and he caught a lot of heat for it…what do Kobe and Lebron have in common…neither guy went to college. Maybe lack of vocabulary is the problem here,” said Roger Lodge.
Oh Roger’s stupidity gets better.
“You’re going to get these things from time to time when guys don’t have a good vocabulary, right?”
A slightly stunned anchor team of Megan Henderson and Chris Schauble, without answering Roger Lodge’s question, did what anchor teams do as professionals. Look slightly stunned and move on from the stupidity of Roger Lodge.
Equating education to a dumb comment from an athlete has to be so far fetched from Rover the dog. We know there’s a lack of education with most athletes but to connect that to vocabulary is really, well the Roger Lodge level of stupidity.
Hey Roger! There are many other people who have said silly things around an open mike. Let’s name a few Presidents who seem to be very well educated I would think, to attain that level of responsibility.
Yeah a few Presidents. Just a few Roger.
In addition some would say your comments this morning border on insulting your viewing and listening audience. And even a hint of racism. Earth to Roger Lodge!! Earth to Roger Lodge!!! Everyone watching KTLA or listening to your show on KLAA (and there are not too many people listening to your show on KLAA) never went to an institution of higher learning like a college or university.
Lebron’s comments, Kobe’s comments weren’t based on the fact that they didn’t go to college. Maybe it’s just pure poor judgement. Bad judgment. Both of these athletes are pretty smart. They really are. In the heat of the battle, which one of us can say we’ve never used a slur when making a comment about some person or event going on around us?
Is it because we didn’t go to college or was it at the time poor judgment? Bad judgment?
When Blake Shelton, a judge on NBC’s The Voice, Tweeted his homophobic comment recently, surely no one gave him foundation by blaming it on his education. Just poor judgment. Bad judgment.
Not his education, Roger.
“You gotta be smarter than that Lebron,” continues Roger Lodge.
Oh Roger, oh Roger.
Maybe, Roger, you need to get a bit of an education.
Or maybe you’re flipping moron!
Oh my I said a bad thing about Roger. Maybe it’s because I have a 6th grade education and didn’t go to college? Or is it that I am lowering myself to Roger Lodge’s stupidity level and being a person of poor judgment like him, Lebron and Kobe.
My apologies to Roger. Really.
We all have to be smarter. Also smarter at KTLA not to do their due diligence prior to letting Roger Lodge make stupid comments on their morning news program. To insult probable a large portion of KTLA’s viewing audience using the lack of a college education in connection with using a slur as a reason is a bit far fetched, seeking out Rover once again to make my point.
I know some very highly educated people around me that have used a gay slur or the word “retarded” in their conversations yet I connect it to judgment, not their education.
To put one and one together here by Roger Lodge, a guy that I actually like watching on KTLA, well is irresponsible and Roger you are so much better than what you said this morning.
Thank goodness for Megan, Chris, Henry and Ginger. I still like having them part of my morning routine, Roger, but I thought I would mention my displeasure of what y0u said in a public way.
